http://www.cafepress.com/11808/ I might be grasping at straws, but the cloverfield shirts on this site show voltron's sword, and the qoutes about a giant lion....

what does anyone else think, could be?

That definitely seems like the Lion Voltron team. They're keeping it a surprise on purpose aren't they?

Here's a decent version of the trailer (I.e. not filmed from a theater):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQWFOgvPE20

The guy says "It's a lion! It's Huge!"

It's Voltron, alright, but take that with a grain of salt.

Well Voltron is supposed to premire next year and very little information has been given regarding cast and crew aside from the script writer. There are bite marks on the side of the statue of liberty's head and the roars do sound mechanized. Guess it's one of the lions waking up.

I don't blame them for keeping this tight lipped. I mean why subject this to the same crap that went on before Transformers came out.

If this is the case then that will be the most tight lipped I've seen for a movie. According to wiki the movie only has a budget of 30 million, I wanna see how they do a voltron movie for that amount if its true.

On the cafepress site when you click on the sword t shirt it says "voltron blazing sword"

He doesn't say it's a lion, he's says "It's alive. It's huge!"

This doesn't at all fit with Voltron. And these conversations have been stated several times on other Cloverfield threads.

On the official site trailer I hear "He saw it, it's a lion, it's huge!" Why would someone say "It's alive" when thats pretty obvious?

And just because Wiki says it's a budget of 30 million doesn't mean they can't fake numbers. This looks like it costs more than 30 million.

Thats why I said if its indeed true about the budget, supposedly its all from handheld camera p.o.v.

I guess we'll see come january

:BOT: The shirts are from cafepress.com... which anyone can make shirts about anything. So it's not an accurate source.

Last I heard, Mark Gordon, Pharrell Williams, Mark Costa and Frank Oelman were the producers of Voltron (from Wikipedia)... not JJ Abrams. :CON:

Not to mention, Voltron's supposed to be post apocalyptic. This is current, and far from the apocalypse.

Because... it might not be? The news report blatantly states that it could be an Earthquake. I'd assume meteor strike or bomb attack of I saw it.

You hear it say 'It's a Lion!' because it's what you want to hear. :P

Perhaps the actual title of the movie is "The Best Night Ever", you know, that thing the guy says right before the trailer ends?

I prefer the theory VH1 came up with (THERE'S a frightening prospect) on Best Week Ever: that Cloverfield is the name of the monster, and it's likely a giant lizard in a top hat and monocle who speaks in an impeccable British accent between snarls. :-P

Perhaps this trailer is Pre-Apocalyptic?

And as for being alive, if the guy says "It's ALIVE! It's Huge!" then what the hell? Certainly wouldn't be rampaging in New York if it wasn't, would it?

Then again, why would they say "It's a Lion!" Voltron Force wouldn't be attacking New York.

If it means that the amazing Voltron script floating around the internet is actually getting made, I would be THRILLED if this were a trailer for it.

:BOT: Also... note that Cloverfield is written by Drew Goddard while Voltron is written by Justin Marks. :CON:

So, as much as I'd like it to be Voltron, it is not. :-(

Still, there's Godzilla or Cthulhu.

:BOT: While I don't know squat about HP Lovecraft other than Evil Dead (which is not much :) ), I like the Cthulhu theory. :CON:

is there a link to this script? if so can i have the adress plz :D

EDIT:

Others have speculated that the movie might be a remake of Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe. Gamera uses a fireball weapon which seems to fit the action shown in the trailer. But Gamera is virtually unknown by the American audience, so what is the point of using/buying his name property?

The screenwriter for Voltron has said the battle takes place in Manhattan, and that the monsters have parasitic qualities which allow them to regenerate themselves by combining with metal debris. Voltron also fought parasite monsters in the series. However, the Voltron rights still belong to Mark Gordon Productions, and involves a crew of producers that are supposedly not involved in Cloverfield. Mark Gordon Productions is also not a production company under Paramount

EDIT: i found an interesting site called "LATINOREVIEWS" pretty funny writers in that site its not a script but it said that one of them got to read it and now posted the story.

Why Cloverfield is not Voltron.

http://www.canmag.com/news/4/3/1637

Ok, we all heard a month or whatever ago that Voltron was in the works.

With the internet the way it is, we find out about stuff waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy before it ever hits production.

Now, how could something like JJ Abrams whip out a Voltron movie, with some footage like in the trailer, without anyone knowing?

It just doesn't happen.

Now, Voltron is in the works. Meaning, it's not greenlit, and it's stuck in developmental hell. The same developmental hell, the Deadpool movie, Venom movie, and several other films have been stuck in for years.

Now, thinking it's Voltron from a suggestion that a line spoken in the trailer says "it's a lion, it's huge" even though the footage is confusing with a lot going on, and the words are spoken quickly so you really can't tell what exactly is being said. Well, thats just silly.

When someone says "oh, it said this" your mind automatically implants those words to make sense out of whats being said.

So if someone really said "it's alive, it's huge" you may hear "it's a lion it's huge" or "it's alien, it's huge" or "it's Al Gore, he's huge!"

Yes, for all we know the movie could very well be a movie about Al Gore becoming gigantic and destroying New York for polluting too much.
