So does Patrick Stewart, and I'd much rather have him on the show.

Another thing! it's a pity that the Doctor doesn't drop the odd F-Bomb now and again! coz with Capaldi i could see that working! Yes Yes i know another character he played(Malcolm Tucker) used a constant slew of profanity, but i can just see the Doctor using it in certain situations
below is just one example of that (WARNING!!! the following contains the use of the F-Bomb, if you are easily offended...please do NOT click on the link)

Really? You're complaining that the main character of a family show, a hero to millions of children, doesn't use profanity?
That's a deep level of neckbeardism, right there.

Well actually i do have a beard tyvm
& are you trying to tell me that kids don't swear? or watch shows with swearing in them? or hear swearing outside, in the playground or even at home coming from their parents? if so....then that's very narrow minded of you!
& btw...one perfect example of something that kids would watch that has a swear word in it is none other than the original animated Transformers The Movie as it has the word **** in it! & said by a kid in the movie too nonetheless!
OF COURSE i don't mean that if there were any eps of Dr Who made that did contain profanity that they would be broadcast early in the evening! of course they would be shown at a much later time after the watershed! & of course i know it'll never happen! nor would the producers allow it! but if it were....i could just see Capaldi using it.

I see your post. Then I see your sig.
Makes sense.
The show has never been know for using profanity, wanting to see it just because an actor used profanity in a different role is just ... silly.

That's a shame. He was lumped with an annoying twatwaffle that had a lot of the stories centre around her (what happened to stories that centred around the adventure? Oh yeah ... Moffett) and now that she's gone we only get one season with him.
Would have preferred he stick around with the new guy but oh well. Not going to happen.

Episode 1 is now behind us.
Still loving Capaldi, really like that Nardole is there.
And then there's Bill. So far, she seems okay.
It wasn't a bad episode, but it's definitely not one of Moffats best.
Don't know about the rest of the world, but they've decided to have one of those talk-shows-after-the-show shows here in Australia entitled "Whovians". I can say that these people make me feel embarrassed to be a Dr Who fan. Five people sitting around in front of a live studio audience pretending to be funny and uber-Who fans. ugh ... no. Shows hosted by fans who can't be objective and instead try to be funny just doesn't work.

Any of you watch the final episode of this season of Doctor Who?
aye it was a guid one
the Doc kept on trying to stop his regenerations into Kris Marshall(nah....seriously! into whoever the new Doc turns out to be?)
i liked the ending when David Bradley(An Adventure In Space And Time) appeared....as William Hartnel's Doctor(which'll no doubt be continued in the Christmas episode)
the one gripe i have was John Simm as the Master! i didn't feel that he was as good in this episode as The Master as he was previously(maybe its just me )

He's never felt like The Master to me. When you compare him to Degado and Ainley, he lacked that evil charm. Even given him the goatee didn't help.
I'm not sure what the point of bringing him back even was, other than the whole "for the first time ever! The Master meets his future self!"
Otherwise, I've really enjoyed this season. Capaldi is awesome, Bill was a pleasant change, and Nardole was a great addition.
Bring on the Christmas special!

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.
Not because I'm sexist. But because I'm tired of taking existing characters and swapping their gender and or race.
It's laziness.
We had a female Doctor. Her name was Romana. We had a female Master. Her name was The Rani.
These were new characters, created to be female equivalents of existing characters.
What we have now days is laziness, rather than creating and developing strong female or <insert whatever race you want> characters and developing them, they take existing ones and flip them. It's laziness.
I will be watching the new Doctor. And I REALLY hope they give her some damn good stories, otherwise it will be Baker/McCoy all over again, and unfortunately the blame will be laid solely on "because she's female", rather than "the writers should have been taken out the back and shot".
I'd engage in the discussion the DW Facebook page, but I'd just be shut down as a middle aged sexist white male. I have to wonder how many of those who are championing this casting would react to Romana returning as Romano?

Alright, so I'm finally caught up on all of the latest episodes and finally felt safe to come here, as nothing can be spoiled. I am a huge Doctor Who fan. It was my original fandom, if you will, one of the first forum boards I regularly visited was about Doctor Who. I've seen most of classic, stopping at the Fifth Doctor's end because I ran out of time, but I love the classic stories just as much as the new. I've met Peter Davison, his autograph is a prized possession, and have seen Catherine Tate and Sylvester McCoy from afar. It's been a long time since I've talked Who with people who actually watch it and know what they're talking about, so this'll be a nice return home.

Did anyone else get choked up when Twelve paraphrased Four and One during his showdown with the Cybermen? Tell me I'm not the only one.
