Some of those questions aren't very good, though. Particularly the one about having a one-party state. I don't get why they haven't changed that one... The question about people with grave inheritable disabilities not being allowed to reproduce could be rendered void with the advance of technology. If you can remove the risk of the child being born with this disease then there is not a problem.
Anyway, this is what I got:
Economic Left/Right: -1.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.21
I suppose I more or less agree with what the results imply. More than less, even. It's still a test that could do with some improving. Not that I've gotten the exact same results every time I've taken the test...

This test is exactly what is wrong with politics, and some of those questions are so one-dimensional that I even can't bring myself to address them.

the political compass FAQ wrote:Some of the questions are slanted
Most of them are slanted ! Some right-wingers accuse us of a leftward slant. Some left-wingers accuse us of a rightward slant. But it's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass.
Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.
Incidentally, our test is not another internet personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it.
the questions are bad on purpose

The problem is not so much that some statements are slanted but that some are unclear as to what they actually mean.

Not very surprising, though I'm in some pretty good philosophical company. Perhaps I should consider Buddhism...

Aggreed, some of those questions are loaded, and WTF is up with this one: "Sex outside marriage is usually immoral" it either is or it isn't, how can it be usually? And don't get me started on the abortion question! Hehe.
Economic Left/Right: -2.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.59
Go figure!

Sadly enough, it frequently is labeled as such. Many states still allow details of a woman's sexual history as evidence in rape trials to establish her as promiscuous or seductive and thus convince juries that she is immoral and at fault for her rape.
...and don't get me started on the abortion question.

The Political Compass
Economic Left/Right: 2.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.97
But that test is loaded. It attempts to make people feel like they are more left wing then what they are and it attempts to make people feel like they are Hitler for being right wing. That site is definately a tool used by left wingers to try to warp the minds of youngsters and convince them they are liberal when in reality they very well may be conservative.

I just started a thread with this before I saw this one here, shoulda known ya'll would've had it already. I'd expect more "right wing" on my results, and I think Tammuz and High Command would agree. Nevertheless, here's my result:
Economic Left/Right: -0.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 2.56

alas poor High Command, how we miss him.....
anyway i'm further left than ghandi, and seem to be going even further left as time progresses, you're alot further right than me and that's what's important! relevance, not position.

Hmm. Vaguely interesting test. It might perhaps be more interesting / relevant to me if I paid more attention to politics in general terms, but that's just me.
