I don't know if this is old news or not, but it's been announced that Michael Bay is the director for the movie that is going to be based on the 2 video games from the Prince of Persia Franchise.

Well, he's teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer again, and JB is good with these kinds of films, so it'll be awesome.

I. Love. Prince of Persia.

And yeah, it's very old news.

And there are three games:

Sands of Time (My favorite game of all time)
Warrior Within (The sub-par sequel)
The Two Thrones (The one I haven't played)

:BOT: How could this be a Michael Bay movie if there's no cars? :)

In anycase, I honestly dig Michael Bay. I'd see it. :CON:

uh no...Prince of Persia dates back to the Amiga era.in fact, I finished the ORIGINAL Prince Of Persia when I was still in high school and that was well over 11 years ago.heck, that was even before CDroms were used.

What other franchise did he screw over? Huh

Regardless, he's perfect for the movie. Who else would you pick for a movie about a guy with a giant sword who fights sand demons, can run on walls, can stop and rewind time itself and is for lack of a better word, a giant action flick on a DVD that you play?

I mean seriously there isn't much substance there to work with in the first place. Princess is being held and his entire goal is to stop the crazy sand critters from destroying everything he knows and loves.

Sounds like another movie he's made for.

Sorry, I thought he meant the modern games, which I assume is what this'll be based on.

If it looks good, I'll go see it. Prince of Persia could make a cool movie if done right. Don't know if it would be a box office sucess though, don't know how much the general, non-gaming public would go for that.

which in turn were spawned from the original...can`t have those without old school Prince Of Persia buddy...in fact, IIRC the original Prince Of Persia was the FIRST game to use motioncapturing...primitive of course but it used it.

Yep, I remember that from an episode of Icons on G4.

Makes it one of the best series ever. (I'm not going to say THE best, Mario gets that respect.)

I dunno. I like the POP games (all of them) more than anything Mario has been in. That includes the original (and still the best) Super Mario Kart.

Well duh. Didn't you know?

After he made Pearl Harbor, that ruined WW2 movies for everyone else.

It takes at least 2 years to make a movie. If he is working on these that means TF2 wont be out till 2012! Thats way too long to wait for a sequel like TF2. They need to make a sequel while people are still interested or it will bomb.

Well, 2012 may not be a bad year to bring out another TF movie.

The Mayans think the world will end December 23rd 2012.

So if this comes out July of 2012. Least we'll get to see it before the world is destroyed.

I guess. Still too long to wait though. I mean batman begins only came out in 2005, and it has a sequel coming soon.

Pirates of the caribbean only took 3 years to get a sequel, same with the matrix. I was expecting a 2010 release at the earlyest, 2011 at the latest...but 2012??? The hell am i gonna do till the end of the world and TF2?!?

Gorge yourself on all the other non-TF movie related Transformers items?

TF Animated, TF Classics, TF Comics, More TF cartoons after Cartoon Network decided to cancel the show.

TF blankets, TF dvds, the 2007 TF movie on DVD, more TF toys, Universe, Botcons, TF Sippy Cups, Transformer Defibulator from electrical robot to life saving device in only minutes.

Of course there is always non-Tf related stuff as well. Like comics. Women(if you don't count that they can Transform from nice to bitches in seconds, fully clothed to nekkid in minutes, and normal to knocked up in months.)

Theres several other things as well.

Edit: The women joke was not meant to offend.

Well he did made a crappy movie called Transformers but I wouldn't claim he screwed any franchise (yet) :P

as for POP, I loved the orginal and the second part but that game serie lost me after Prince of persia 3D (which was sucky), the new games couldn't interest me much (though I never even tried playing)
So if a movie really is made I probably won't even bother with it

Bay made the statement about going on to direct PoP before Transformers hit an over $450 million gross. Now he's quoted as wanting to start a sequal right away.

"Michael Bay Ruined Another Franchise...wahh wahh"

STFU. Seriously people, this is getting ridiculous and it's sickening. If you don't like his movies, don't watch them, then you have nothing to whine about. (and if you feel a need to continue whining after that point, you need to be hit 'til you bleed, so we can get the stupid out.)

Not necessarily. Christopher Nolan directed 3 different movies in only a few years. Batman Begins came out in 2005, the Prestige came out in 2006 and The Dark Knight comes out in 2008.

Remember, Bay could direct PoP while all the robot design, script writing, screenplay writing, and general photography set-up is finalised, so TF2 would be ready to shot once general photography of PoP is finished.

You can do two movies at once, just not the same parts.

Well true i guess, you can shoot back to back ala Matrix or LOTR, but i havnt seen it done on different projects before only in sequels to franchises.

But i suppose he could pull a Nolan, but he is Micheal Bay, not that i have anything against him but im not sure if he is capable of such a task.
