PLEASE HELP! I'm stranded at JFK airport in New York!

Well, it's time to see just how big and how powerful the SEIBERTRON.com network truly is. This is how desperate I am to get out of New York right now ... if you are able to help me somehow. I just want to get home (I've been stranded here for about 36 hours so far). If you are unable to help, please do not call the number. I'm looking for people who are connected to the Airlines or something that can help me find a way out of JFK Airport at a reasonable price and situation (My canceled flights have been with JetBlue but it doesn't seem to matter which airline it is). I might really be screwed here but I thought I'd give this a try to see what happens. Any hotel connections? (Thanks in advance gang!)
--------------------------------------
I'm one of the people stranded at JFK Airport in New York. My flight yesterday at 1PM was canceled and my flight today at 8PM was canceled after it was delayed for two hours.
Do any of you have any connections with any transportation companies? I don't care if it's an airplane company, Greyhound or Amtrack at this point (though I would prefer an airplane so I can get back to Chicago to get new clothes before I head back to Michigan on Monday). I just want to get back to Chicago in the next 24 hours or to Detroit over this weekend if needed (I have a client meeting in Ann Arbor on Monday morning). I'm tired, frustrated and just want to get home. I loved New York, but enough's enough!
If you have any actual connections, please post a message here with your ideas or send me a private message. I'm going to go figure out where my luggage with all of my stuff is in the meantime.
Thanks in advance to anyone with any suggestions. And thanks for letting me vent for a moment. This hasn't been a fun past 36 hours.

Wow, I didn't understand the sevarity of the situation until now. I'm calling around to people I know to see what I can do for you. It might not be much but I hope I can get something for you. Best of luck man.

Amtrak is supposedly booked through the weekend. There are some Greyhound buses available but they're 17 - 20 hours long bus rides to Detroit. I'd really like to get back to Chicago so I can get some new clothes and sleep in my own bed for a night or two before I head to Ann Arbor on Monday morning.
I think my eyes are cross eyed now.

my dad works for United and he can get stand by tickets for about half price, but seeing as how it's standby you probably wouldn't get on since everyone else is trying to get out of New York too. I tried. Good luck!

I found some options:
Go to expedia and search LGA (LaGuardia) to Chicago (all aiports), they have United and US Airways flights listed for Chicago, via Indianapolis, but it is 10 hrs of travel.
On Saturday Continental flight 1214 from Newark, NJ (I think you cant ake the PATH train from Penn Station to get there) leaves at 3:15pm arrives at 8:37pm.
So I would call those airlines direct (United, US Airways, and Continental) and see if those flights aren't oversold. They look to be your quickest way out...problem is they are all around $450, so definitely call to make sure you are not getting overbooked.

Hey, I just called you. If you are able to make it do Maryland you are more than welcome to stay until here, until you can get back to Michigan. If you need somewhere to crash no charge, give me a call you got my number...be careful... Call me if you changed plans...

Well Ryan it doesn't help you get home, but if you need a place to stay I live in NJ, and easy train ride from Grand Central Station and would gladly offer up a couch, but I fear by the time you get here your travel issues will likely have cleared.

UPDATE!
Ok Ryan is going to hitch a ride with a friendly couple he met who is also in the same situation. They are splitting the payment for renting a car and they are heading to Philedelphia to catch a SW airline to Chicago. He should be getting in around 9:00AM.
Ryan wishes to extend his thanks to anybody who did contact him and for all the friendly offers of shelter.

I just wanted to say "thank you" to all of the kind people who called last night to offer me assistance. I finally arrived back about 30 minutes or so ago. The past 2 days have been a near nightmare experience. I couldn't have done it without the very nice couple that I befriended at JFK. I think without them and the idea to head to Philly, I would still be stuck at JFK or on a Greyhound bus heading to Detroit. I haven't contacted JetBlue yet to find out if they'll reimburse my full ticket fare. I know they'll reimburse the trip back to Chicago but I'm hoping for a full reimbursement since I had to pay for an extra hotel night and an extra, more expensive airfare back to Chicago this morning. Ah well, I'm back at least! I'm going to hit the sack here shortly after I can connect with my laptop to send my boss an email.

Quite a few of us do. It's not really that shocking.
Glad to see you made it back in one piece Ryan!
