It looks like Wonder Woman is going to be getting her first movie soon:

This might be good if it was Marvel writers writing it with DC animators.

DC art is amazing, but their stories suck

Animated? So the plans for a live action (last I checked written by Joss Whedon) have been abandoned?

I hope not.

Well damn, I was also hoping for a live action movie.

Not interested now.

I really don't think this means no live action film. Look at the Superman Animated movie due out and the one that was released around the same time as Superman Returns. I think this is DC trying to be like Marvel.

The same goes for Ironman. They released an Animated Movie a couple months ago, and they're still doing the Live Action movie.

I hope Bruce Timm gets tied to this project.

Doesn't DC/WB own Bruce Timm's soul? I mean they have him doing Superman: Doomsday, and all the other DC animated titles coming out. Not sure about Teen Titans though.

I think he is working on the Teen Titans movie as well.

Whedon has actually been off of the Wonder Woman film for quite some time. From what I heard, DC wasn't satisfied with the direction his script was going. As far as I know, they haven't given the writing chores to anyone else yet.

As for this animated film, it looks like it's going to be a part of the DCU animated DVD line along with Superman: Doomsday, New Frontier, and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.

Meh, we don't need another Elektra/Catwoman, because I'm afraid that's the direction this movie would go. All sex appeal and no characterization. It's a shame that as a female I am against female superhero leads. :(

Well, you do realize you're in a field dominated by horny teenage males.

Just because fans of superhero stuff is comprised of horny teenage males doesn't mean that they should just make an entire movie of female heroine, and make it just about T and A. Watch pornography if that's all you want. Why do the men get cool stories in the movies, but when it's a woman, it's nothing? They took Catwoman, my favorite Batman villian, and made her the laughingstock of all superhero movies.

I prefer male superheroes, of course, but if you're gonna make a film about a female, put some thought into it. Go for some character development, meaningful backstory, and a little sex appeal.

ah yes, here we go.

Whedon's departure from Wonder Woman

Dissapointing really because Whedon would have been able to turn it into more than just a T&A movie and it definitely wouldn't have been a Catwoman.

I totally agree with you, Moonbase2. I hate when these things are made for the lowest common denominator.

See, Catwoman was a piece of ****, because the director and writers only took the name of the character for the movie.

Had they gotten a writer and/or director who actually cared about Catwoman, we probably would have seen something a hell of a lot better.

I'm really not worried about the live action Wonder Woman film. Since all the DC films thus far have been awesome. Batman Begins, Superman Returns ect.

We'll get to see Diana born from clay, more Greek mythology which has been a big hit with 300 and God of War and all that. Wonder Woman has a pretty good storyline, and would work well for film, if done right.

If they get a writer and director who actually cares and loves the character Wonder Woman, the movie will be awesome.

Then of course, there is always the chance this will end up like Blood Rayne, Elektra, and Catwoman, and be a steaming pile of crap.

No, it was in the theatre. I read a review of it in the paper. The guy went to the theatre and saw Bloodrayne, Grandma's Boy, and Hostel. Grandma's Boy was the best one.

I like how this is aimed at a older audience, if only we could get a TF cartoon like that some day
