this afternoon, the household pet cat was put to sleep as her body was riddled with cancer after developing bone cancer recently, my mum phoned em last night to tell me as im away studying at uni.
thing is, i find myself not really that upset, mainly as im thinking, she lived to be nearly 18 years old, not bad for a house cat i think.
thats about it really. oh well guess the dog will be gettong a lot more attention now.

Sorry to hear of your loss. As someone who lost two cast, I cna say it's easier to cope with the loss of a pet when you know their death is coming. But when it's sudden, it's a different thing.
Your cat lived 18 years, she lived a long full life. She's in a better place now. My advice is get another cat if you want another.

Ive been here bro, and im sorry for your loss.
I lost my Rocky 6 yrs ago to cancer, and a million other things.
He was my best friend I miss him so much still.
I lost my other dog frodo of old age just before easter, well the saturday before easter I should say and people wonder still why I hate easter.
He was 15 yrs old, I miss him a great deal as well, I had him the majority of my life and now there is a void that will never be filled again.

My family has lost two cats. One was hit by a car, and the other is more tragic. It got into fights often and kept getting scratched on the head. It became infected with puss to the point that there was nothing to do. We let him live in our garage for his last year. He finally couldn't eat and had to be hand fed. He then refused to eat and passed quietly in the night. I occasionaly have dreams that the cats are alive and living under my bed, but I awaken abrutly when I realise I can't feel their fur. It is a tough thing to go through, but time heals all wounds.

I got Penelope (Nicknamed "Nelly" or just "Nel") when I was six, and I had her until a few months ago, when we figured she was suffering way too much, and put her down.
She slept on top of a heat pipe in our basement, which not only cause the loss of most of her fur, but she would also fall off frequently, to the point that it commonly looked like she broke something. She'd flail around for a moment, before returning to normal, and to the pipe.
(Our basement was converted into a really nice family room a few years ago. I used to have my computer and games down there before putting them in my bedroom. I even slept there when my older sister had to live with us)
Just before my dad took her to the vet, he had to give her a throural bath, becasue she was almost completely covered in fleas.
I'd've been much more sad if she hadn't been so obnoxious in her last year. She'd always be screaming, which, looking back, was probably a cry for help. When I slept in the basement, I lost a lot of sleep, because she'd be screaming if she didn't have fresh food. (She always had a full bowl, but refused to eat it if it was more than an hour old, and she went through a whole bag in a week)
So I know where you're coming from, man.

That's sad. It's always sad when kitties have to go. My cats are still young. Insha Allah, they'll live full lives.
