:BOT: A sad day for comic book fans. Mike Wieringo passed away yesterday of a heart attack, he was 44 years young :(

Mike did some amazing stuff over the years: Flash, Superman, Tellos, Fantastic Four, and his super fun friendly rendition Spidey. I loved his run with Mark Waid on Fantastic Four. And his art was the main reason for me picking up Friendly Neighborhood Spidey. Ever since going to Comic-Con, I've created a list of people that I wanted to meet and tell them how much I dig their work. Guess I'll never have that chance with Mike.

My favorite artwork of his (which is sadly fitting) is the Fantastic Four story where the team has to find The Thing in Heaven and Jack Kirby is God. Amazing run.

I'll miss the guy :( :CON:

Agreed, I don't have many of his comics, but I got a hand-full of them. His art and writing kicked ass.

He will be missed.

Man, I've always thought that, along with Alex Ross, he was one of the best compliments to Mark Waid's writing. This makes me very sad.

He was a great artist. He possessed a cartoony element to his art but still managed to keep them down-to-earth. He'll be missed.

That stinks. I loved his artwork on Spider-Man and especially Spider-Ham.

Everybody that knew him said he was a great guy. Also, a vegetarian, kept himself in shape, and only 44. Yet he died of a massive heart attack.
Go figure.
