Hmm I know nothing of this guy's previous works, but I do know them GI Joe Fans are as rabid as TF fans. They don't take kindly to crappy renditions and knock offs of Snake Eyes.

Ah So he was the guy who directed the Mummy series. Hmm, a most interesting choice of directors indeed. I doubt we'll see Brandon Frasier but that may not be a bad thing for this sort of movie.

:BOT: My dream team line up for GI Joe would have been JJ Abrams directing with Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci writing since Mission: Impossible III was awesome. Not only did I say to myself "This is Alias: The Movie," these guys would rule on GI Joe.

But enough of my movie fanboyness... hopefully Stephen creates a fun GI Joe movie. :CON:

He also did Van Helsing, which was the first movie in which I dreaded the action scenes because they were so annoying.

The only good thing I can say about that movie was that they got Frankenstein's monster right. And the intro scene was cool.

I've hated most of this guys work and the whole buddy movie thing seems lame.

But what the heck is this?

G.I. Joe is now a Brussels-based outfit that stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer. The property is closer in tone to "X-Men" and James Bond than a war film.

Where did this come from?

Ugh, I heard that they were going to do something like this. Basically, they're pick and pulling from various eras of G.I.Joe, and making it more international - like Dirty Dozen meets James Bond. In other words, no Snake-Eyes, no Duke, no Roadblock (at least not in the way we know them), and making it more accessible to an international audience - like Action Man. The whole thing is hugely misses the mark as to what most people now consider G.I.Joe.

And I also want to add that making Destro the leader of Cobra is so badly written. Cobra Commander done the right way will be far more interesting.
