Anyone else enjoy those major storms that slammed the Chicago area this afternoon/evening? I was in Schaumburg at around 3:15 and had to hide in a parking garage at the Streets of Woodfield for a while until the first storm blew over. Then I got caught in the second one an hour later on my way home near Elgin.

Power went out in my house about 2:30, along with raging wind and water, and had to stay in the basement with candles lit due to a tornado that touched down in the area. A real thrill!

My power went out for only a couple seconds, but my special lady friend's power went out, and is still out.
Tweezy, the lucky bastard he is, only got light rain. Me and my special lady friend got some pretty bad rain. And there's a lot of lightning now, too.
Some pretty spectacular stuff.

my basement started to flood!!!!!!!! Luckily I just installed the sump pump and it was running for a few hours.
I was also out on business on my freakin' SCOOTER right when the dark clouds hit. So yeah, I got DRENCHED and drove like hell in the pouring rain.
Not fun.
At least the rain finally stopped and my transformers are safe from drowning.

Gah! I'm sick of all this damned rain! It's been alright
for the past couple of days around Rockford, but we've
got more storms moving in from Wisconsin now. I wish they'd
keep it to themselves...

On this side of the Mississippi (Southcentral Iowa) it seemed we'd been blighted by the Almighty. First, around 7 P.M. Thursday, we had a tornado scare. Then came all that heavy rain, which was a true joy to drive in. Finally, in a spectacular final act, the city's water plant basement was flooded with sewage resulting in no good water or working toilets for nearly two days. Good one God.
