Ok, so, Cap is back due to time travel....

-looks at betting pool- So, who had "time travel retcon"?

I had "Cap was abducted by aliens and the deceased 'Cap' was really cloned nanites from his twin brother who was never seen"

So ... dead character is brought back to life by being brought from the past into the present before returning to the past to continue his life like normal until he eventually dies like he was suppose to.

...

Gee, there's an original storyline. :?

****. I had "Skrull Imposter dying in his place." And to those that are going to respond "Duh Skrulls change back when they die." No. Not all of them do. There's a rare breed that can hold their shape after death.

Come on, folks. How could you not see this coming? It's the first rule of comics books: no one who dies stays dead.

True, but you'd think Marvel would have waited for the corpse to get cold before bringing him back.

Well, at least we won't have to deal with 4 new guys claiming to be Cap, a young Cap, cyborg Cap, a Cap in an iron suit, and some other dude.

But this is just going to be a mini-series isn't it?

Once it's over he goes back to his original time and stays dead in the present.

Or did I mis-read things?

Well, just because it's a mini-series doesn't necessarily mean at the end he's gonna pop back to his own time and everything will be honky-doory.

With stuff in the interview being said like "Let's just say you can't meet Captain America from the 1940s and not expect there to be dramatic ramifications"

could possibly mean he stays in this time, then the history of WW2 is changed without Cap there. So stuff alters dramatically.

Also, it could mean that Cap goes back to his time with knowledge of the future, and that has effects on him. He knows how he's going to die and how the country currently is, and since he's still relatively young and hasn't been A-head for very long, this could dishearten him from his duties etc.

All of those are already canon except for the Cyborg Cap. :P

Which has a flow on effect all the way down to ... oh, I dunno, the events of Civil War never occurring? :?

Can we say, "the Crossing" - only hopefully this time with less suck. I mean, how many times can something like this happen the an Avenger?

Yeah, but much like what happened with Optimus Prime back in the 80's, someone at Marvel must have realized how bad an idea it was to do what they did and went to work in order to fix it at the earliest opportunity.

I think the whole thing was planned out from the beginning. Just like the "Death of Superman", it was never the intent to keep them dead forever.

And this is just a small part of why almost all of the sperhero comics that I read these days are from Wildstorm.

I doubt anyone will actually admit that, because I bet the fandom will revolt if that turns out to be true.
