just thought it'd be a funny title. :D

Another board member posted this link in another thread, and since it's so damn huge and freaky looking it was hijacking the thread, *damn mutant hijacking spider!*

So I thought it deserved it's own thread to run free in and hopefully scare the hell out of anyone who missed it in it's hijacking thread.

Beware the Clock Spider of DooM!

OH MY GOD!!!!!

That is the most horrifying thing in the world! Can you imagine that horrific creature in your house??? If I saw those legs, I don't think I'd have the courage to remove that clock. I also don't know if I'd just squash it, because of the mess it would leave. Oh horror of horrors!

....of DOOM!!!

Says that a type of this spider lives in Hawaii. I lived there for three years, and I don't recall ever seeing one of these beasties.

But here's yet another reason I'm not going to Australia anytime soon.

There has been several board crashes since the last time it had been posted here, so to many intraweb n00bs it is relatively new.

Now, that is a big ass spider.

Didn't Zuko almost mess himself when he saw it the first time?

Or maybe I'm thinking about someone else...

It was introduced to HA. It's not native. Looks very similar to the Cane-break Spider.

We have wood/water Spiders like that here in FL. They are harmless but will freak you out.

Once my wife was in the shower and I hear her scream, I run in there and in the corner is one of those mofo's. Six inches across from leg to leg. We took a pic, but it was before the digi, so it's on F I L M. It would be worthy of this guy, but not in a digi format.

I actully had to kill one last week. I tried to shoo it out, but once they are in the house, they will grow very quickly and you never know if it'll lay eggs. I tried to get it out, it wouldn't cooperate like a nice little arachnid, so I kilt it.

I like spiders and hate to kill them. However, I don't want them in the house.

My husband had to deal with those camel spiders in Iraq. Those buggers are huge.

Just look at what they are capable of! He said they'd be marching and somebody would notice one on another guy's back, which would then be followed by panic on the guy's part, and hilarity on everyone else's.

Man, if the world had more of those, you wouldn't have to go to the coast for good crab-legs! :yum!:

My brother in law talked about these spiders as well from when he was in Iraq.

I grew up with a swamp in my back yard. My boy and me would go tracking through there after school, summer and whatnot. I would always carry a machete and he would have a 22 long rifle.

...anyway, once we came across a giant Banana spider (or Golden Orbweaver for those not from FL). My boy took up aim from about 20ft away and shot it through the abomen. The f#cker was soo big, that it stayed together with a hole in it's abdomen. So right there in the middle of North Central FL swamp there are spiders big enough to eat small birds and whatnot.

Here's the largest spider in the world. This bastard can actually hiss at you. Imagine the crunch it would make if you stepped on it..

I was going to say it looked like a fairly harmless Huntsman Spider.

These things are great, the amount of bugs they eat is amazing, and they are a good indicator to tell you if it is going to absolutely pour with rain, as they flee inside houses about 12 hours beforehand.

Best thing I have ever seen one do was frighten off the next door neighbours yappy terrier by rearing up against it.
