Happy edge day, celebrating 8 years since Ten Yard Fight's last show. :-(

Today I will listen to nothing but Bane for the entirety of the day. 8)

I had to look up this day.

According to Wikipedia, it's part of the "Strait Edge Culture." And here's the "best" part:

Straight edge refers to a lifestyle and scene within the hardcore punk subculture whose adherents abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, as well as casual sex.

What.

That's like the opposite of hardcore punk! It's the kind of thing you'd expect from Christian Rock! (A music style so painful, that it's very name is an oxymoron)

CAN I GET AN AMEN?

But seriously, why do we need one of these holidays? A holiday that discourages drinking?! What's the point of an unofficial holiday where you can't get drunk off your ass?!

For unofficial holidays, I prefer Super Bowl Sunday. A holiday where a bunch of dudes can get together, drink beer as if it were water, and eat enough nachos to kill a lion. And then stand up and scream, as the team of choice gets that touchdown we so desperately need.

You forgot about the chili. Plus, all the other meat products. We could feed every nation in the world with as much food as we eat during Super Bowl Sunday. It's awesome.

I've never been much of a chili eater. However, you can't beat a giant bowl of BBQ chicken wings!

If you guys aren't into Minor Threat, Black Flag and all the greats, you would never understand. It's a counter culture to the sub-culture who drinks / smokes, etc. I'd go into further detail, but by judging by your posts, you'd never comprehend anything I would say. Sorry for making things too complicated for you as it is.

Wouldn't drinking and smoking be considered a counter-culture, given that those things are looked down upon anyway? So that means Straight Edge (Even the NAME sounds Christian) is a Counter-Counter-Culture. So...it's a culture.

Yeah, this is about as "Non-conformist" as going to church.

Think about it, the current culture for teenagers and even people in their 20's is to rebel against their parents, smoke weed, and party.

This is a belief that goes against that accepted norm. I'm atheist, I don't go to church, I'm not a mommas boy by any means. I choose to not do any of that because I don't see the point of it. I'm not going to start flaming my beliefs everywhere. I just want you to realize that most of the kids who are straight edge do it for their own personal reasons, and that there's a fine line between simply saying no to drugs and alcohol and claiming to be straight edge.

Wait...so you're anti-rebellion?

Congratulations, you just defined conformist.

Way to take my wording out of context. Yes, I still do **** that most teenagers / people my age do. I just meant it as a general thing. I still say **** you to a lot of the socially accepted norms of adulthood. Like I said, it's something you would never understand, so why should I waste my time trying to get my point across.

Yes, why ARE you trying to get your point across? It makes no sense. You're anti-conformist, and yet, you follow so many conformist beliefs.

Look, since my superpower happens to be that of spite, I'm going to go out and screw a hooker, while smoking a blunt, and drinking enough booze to kill an Irishman.

Meh. Don't drink or do anything myself, despite that fact that I have quite easy access. My own, fairly-existentialist (I made it all up before I knew what existentialism was) doctrine dictates that I live in reality as best my ability (no mind-altering substances) and define myself through action without hinderence (staying in shape, no smoking, careful diet, etc.). Sex is cool though, if even available! lol....

I'm really starting to get into bodybuilding now, so those points are really starting to get stressed.

I find it difficult to accept the fact that you're younger than me. You're, what, 17? Not cool, man! Because it makes me feel old!

I'm told I think too much-- I was mistaken for a college freshman when I was 15. Don't feel too bad.

18 by 2008, BTW.

Same here. I shocked people on my 14th birthday (On here!) because they thought I was in my twenties.

I showed THEM! I then proceeded to mentally regress! Now, as an 18-year-old, I show the maturity of a mentally retarded infant!

Back to diapers by 25?

EDIT: Though ya, I'm just starting to get out of my "just don't care" period. Soon I can progress to the "what the hell am I going to do with my life" period.

By then, I intend to split my own genetics in half, thus further regressing into a state of non-birth.

This worries me. And I've listened to Tweezy on Xbox Live before.
