There has been a massive explosion right at makity city at the Glorietta 2 area. Was there a terrorist or anything else went wrong? But there was actually a gas pressure that caused the huge explosion.

Question:
What was the thing containing the gas (were the disaster struck) Called?

May the departed rest in peace

thanks for that link Cyb.

yeah, that explosion was terrible. up to now, the investigators still do not know if it was caused by a bomb (minute traces of RDX, a bomb-making component were found onsite) or by a hazardous amalgamation of gases like LPG, Methane (from a leaky sewer), and other flammables; the blast occurred near a restaurant so this is one good possibility.

there were some videos caught on cameraphones and security cams on the time of explosion, shown in the evening news here earlier; one chilling footage shows a bunch of people normally scrutinizing merchandise from a store when BAM! without warning at all, suddenly the screen exploded into brown smoke and debris. that was very horrible to watch.

this really concerns us TF fans (especially us Filipinos) because in this mall, there are hobbyshops that sell lots of Transformers, most of them imports from there in the US and Japan.

there are also good bootleg shops there, i believe one of our own members (Mechajol) a connoisseur of KOs, pointed out to me a few weeks ago that he bought his high-quality Doubledealer KO from one of the stores here.

we Filipino TF fans feel very bad about this incident and we hope and pray that the hobbyshops or their sales reps were not affected by the huge blast in Glorietta Mall.

I'm sure you aren't prioritising toys over people, but I'd like to add that I'm sure everyone's thoughts (and prayers, for those of a faith) are with those injured in the explosion and the families of those killed.

yep, that too, i just forgot to add that. thanks, i guess - though i really can't speak for all those who were affected by the blast.

No worries, you're a lot closer to it than me, so I'm guessing you're more affected by it than I am.

Reading around, the police are saying they don't think it was terrorism, but aren't sure.

actually, i live farther down south - i live on a small island in the middle of the Philippines, so we're relatively far away from the explosion site, which happened in the north, in the country's capital city. :P

yeah, according to the evening news earlier, recent findings by the PNP (national police) pointed to a more plausible culprit: a deadly mix of LPG (from the nearby restaurant), methane (leaking from the sewers, i guess), diesel fumes (from the nearby car park), and a firestarter; though the presence of RDX in the area of explosion still strongly points to the bomb theory.

I also found an error, on the Philippine patrol news, it said that 8 people died, however, but on the internet sites such as wikipedia.com say that 11 died? How could this be? what? People died from their injuries in the hospital as well, or are some bodies just found in the rubble?

earlier reports put the death toll at 8; however, more bodies were found in the rubble and some died of complications, thus the difference.
