it was ok, i guess. but i have a question
*spoiler-warning!*
how did they get jigsaw's body for the oh-so-confusing autopsy scene, if hoffman locked the FBI agent in the room with it? was he let free or what?
*end spoiler*

yeah i realized that when my brain almost exploded trying to comprehend that the "bullet collar-scene" and all that was occurring at the same time as the rest of the movie. since the jigsaw guy has signed on for both sequels (dude must be making some serious $$$) i would like to see a prequel. they could easily expand on his origins, more than what we "saw."

and it would be cool to see him designing and testing early traps. these movies are a MAJOR guilty pleasure for me!

Im sure the next one will focus on the FBI agent locked up in operating room, and end where this one began
The last film will most likely focus on the detective's "test" I'm guessing

Nope. LOST has an end.. NOT this season (which starts in Feb) but the 2009 season.
Abrams said that when he did an interview on the Howard Stern show.
And for the record, I have never watched any of the Saw movies.. I just never had an interest in them.

ok, that was a bad analogy. how about "SAW is the new energizer battery. keeps going and going, with no end in sight!" ?

I thought it was pretty cool. It was better than expected anyway, and so many assumptions of mine about previous Saws were proven wrong. They even used the same trick as before
where the captive (IV) or dead guy (I) turned out to be the orchestrator. I wouldn't call it the best one, but it definitely doesn't suffer from being a sequel, especially being a third sequel.

That's what gives me a headache. Oy. I feel I have to memorize the previous movies to follow these ones. I guess I have some studying to do before V.
The theme song, as always, never gets old.

Not seen any of them and don't really want to, to be honest. Watching people get carved up isn't my idea of a good time!
On a slightly more topic-centric note, why aren't they linear? This sounds like it could be an interesting quirk; but is it simply so they can make several thousand Saw films...?

It works for them well. It's one of those you'd have to have seen them things.

Fair enough. Just struck me as a cunning plan so that if the franchise had flopped then they could've gone "yes, we planned it like that!" and if - as is the case - it's done really well, they can then produce as many as they want.
But if it genuinely has a cinematic benefit, then fair play to 'em!

The non linearity throws the audience off, and makes it harder to guess whats going to happen
This way the end of the movie is a surprise and much more intriguing
For example, I never saw Captivity but i used common sense to determine a major plot point
the guy in the cell next to her was one of the captors I looked it up and I was right
I cant do that with the Saw films, so its like a challeneg to figure it out before the movie ends

Ah, my boyfiend said that he guessed all the plot twists in Saw III, which is what ruined the film for him. I haven't seen III or IV yet (so I don't have any input on that) but I did love the first two.
I think the plot twist on the first one was amazing
I'm not to keen on watching Saw III because it has a lot more gore and apparently that detracts from the plot. What do you guys think? I just know that Angel Trap = NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO SEE. Or that one with ripping hooks out of his lip..
Yeah.... the franchise really isn't for people who can't stand mutilations. I thought I couldn't, but you just have to remember that it's not real, and as soon as you pay attention to the plot it's all worth it, because the storyline is amazing ^^
I probably will get to watching the next two films eventually lol. And yes, it does seem like Saw never ends XD

The Saw films are the only "human-centered" horror films that I am into. I'm more zombie and monster as far as horror.
The Saw series is an excellent way to bring actual thought into the horror genre. With that said, though, I just got back from seeing the fourth and it wasn't on the same level as the other three. It was good, but I'm very doubtful, given what I saw with this one, that there should be a V and VI.
The revolutions of Jigsaw's past in this one were to specfic to the character. Plus, the central character this time was not very interesting nor connective. In the others, there was connection with the central character, but here there wasn't and it made me not care if he did succeed or not. Plus, there wasn't many surprise in the ending to this one. It seems like they just took items from the surprising plot-twists from the first films and just reused them with different characters.
I own and watch the first three films quite often, but I'm not too sure I'm going to care to purchase the fourth one when it comes to DVD.

I liked Saw 4...
Spoilers
Saw 4 takes place at the same time as Saw 3, which is why the FBI agent finds Jeff in the room with Johns body when John is killed. The autopsy scene scres people up, it is shown in the very beginning, but actually takes place after the Swat team commander has failed his test, and Jeff has killed John. How the body gets out and is autopsy'd with the fBI agent locked in the room we don't yet know, or why the cop has been helping John is still unknown, likely to be answered in 5 and 6 I imagine.
I really can't wait for 5 and 6!
