Well, Fox "Spooky" Mulder that is!
X-Files 2 Stakes Out July
It's official: 20th Century Fox announced on Halloween that a second The X-Files movie is in production, with a release date of July 25, 2008.
The sequel reunites stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson under the direction of series creator Chris Carter, who co-wrote the screenplay with former X-Files executive producer Frank Spotnitz.
The as-yet-untitled movie is being kept a secret, but Fox said that the story will be a stand-alone mystery that also takes the relationship between Duchovny's Fox Mulder and Anderson's Dana Scully in unexpected directions.
The sourceI'm glad that it'll probably be a classic "monster of the week" type story instead of something centred around the crap that was the last few seasons.
Of course with new X-Files material the old shipper/noromo wars will erupt, and it's time to make those goddamn shippers pay for ruining The X-Files.

Wikipedia told me about this a while ago. Absolutely wonderful to hear it's been confirmed.

It's been spoken about for years but it came down to scheduling, the right story, and Carter finalising his lawsuit against Fox.

They're filming it right here in vancouver, so it'll be interesting to see if I can catch a glimpse or two

Well the original series was filmed in Vancouver.
Except for the later years I think. Duchovny's ego didn't like travelling or something.

Again...
Perhaps Duchovny feels he is a star again after that Californication show has made headlines.

I searched high, and I searched low, but unlike the truth, an existing X-Files thread was simply not out there, which surprised me.
So with the new season now 2 episodes (and essentially 2/3 complete) in, what do people think?
I found the the whole "actually it was a US Government thing, not a alien colonisation plot" a bit forced, and also not sure WHY. Mulder and Scully being welcomed back into the FBI and the X-Files re-opened also felt rushed.
Overall though, it felt like classic XF. Here's hoping it rates well enough and we can get a few more (much longer) seasons.

Sort of live-noting as I watch the first episode, here...
They both look fantastically aged, I like that.
JOEL MCHALE!
The quip on Mulder's skeptical belief is a very very good one, and done with very quickly all within one conversation. That, and it establishes the new dynamic between Mulder and Scully quite well, too.
MITCH PILEGGI!
Paranoid Mulder wordvomiting with McHale helping him along is wonderful as usual - only to be crumpled by Scully's science.
..and that ending was silly.

well i've watched the 2nd episode....& definitely better than the 1st(but the 1st is good too) there's a wee bit of gore in it...but hey.....that's to be expected in the X Files & i'm sure there was some gory scenes in the previous 9 seasons too!

I've enjoyed it so far and I also agree that episode two was stronger than the first. They tried to fit a lot of stuff into episode 1 between revisiting the past and trying to steer this new event toward its intended path. Admittedly, as a Marvel fan, I couldn't help but think "hail Hydra" when they were explaining this new conspiracy theory. They even used the term "tentacles" when explaining its global reach which I thought was interesting since Hydra's symbol is that of an octopus. Fun comparison if nothing else.

Episode 3 was ok....if not a bit silly & daft....but loved Mulder's ringtone on his phone! although rather ironic....lol

I thought it was one of the best episodes ever. A monster of the week combined with one of the occasional comedic episodes, a nice blend without the underlying romance and/or conspiracy stories.
