THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR FACTS

In 1946, Rick OConnell (Brendan Fraser) and his wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) have just finished a tour of duty as spies for the British army and are looking for an exciting new adventure to go on. Their new assignment — to transport an historical artifact to Shanghai, China — seems easy enough, but trouble brews when they meet up with their son Alex (Luke Ford), who has just discovered the secluded resting place of the Dragon Emperor. When the ancient ruler (Jet Li) is re-awakened, the O'Connell family must stop him from also bringing back his terra cotta army with which he wants to reconquer all of China.

Yup, Brendan Fraser is back for another installment of the late 90's cult classical series The Mummy.

apparently so, actually its not a bad idea for a story, not a great one, but not bad. Overall I hope this story doesn't spark WW3

By the plot, this is going to be straight-to-video worthy.

Heheh... I guess seeing as people actually watched that travesty called 'Transformers', Hollywood can put out any old rubbish and still make millions... :-P

I read about this months ago...

I'll see it because I saw the first two and Scorpion King(almost demanded my money back after that one) in theaters.

I'm a Brendan Fraser fan.

and I'm a huge Jet Li fan

I have The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Scorpion King, all on DVD. (As you can tell by that, I'm a fan.)

I will definitely be there to see this one. Oh yes. I would like to see some footage, or a picture of Maria Bello as Evelyn before making my final judgment on her part in it.

Still...I'm psyched. :D

Bingo. It's not like she's really doing much right now.

Well, looks like I spoke too soon.

Here we are: (copy/paste might be required)

...and she looks good, actually! No Rachel Weisz, but she looks good. No complaints. Looks a bit like Geena Davis. (which I have no complaints, because in her day...WOW. Um. Yeah.) Plus Jet-Li and Michelle Yeoh? I'm sold. *saves ticket money*

Weisz is needed.

This already sounds like it will be 15 times the movie that the Scorpion King was.

Hopefully the annoying Kid was killed off-screen somewhere, maybe that's why Weisz character left Fraser's?

Maria Bello is fine but Rachel will be missed.

From AS's initial post, it sounds like Maria Bello is playing Weisz's part and the son is now an adult.

Oh no no no. You've got it all wrong.

In fact, the O'Connell family is doing quite well.

Bello is playing Weisz's character Evie. She's merely a replacement actress.

The original boy who played their son in "Returns" won't be in this one, because it takes place about a decade later. He'll be around 18-20 and an actor has already been picked for that role.

John Hannah will reprise his role as Evie's swindlicious brother. (Yay! One of the better characters in the whole thing...)

So other than the kid and Bello coming in, the whole thing remains the same. "New packaging, same product."

Sorry, I understood it all perfectly, my post was more like "wishful thinking" than anything else. Weisz was great in both the Mummy movies, and I am sad to see her go.

Fraser's best acting was in Scrubs, but I still likes the guy, he and Jet Li should be interesting to watch on screen.

Oh Snap...come on. Jet Li is awesome! But i have yet to imagine him as a "living" mummy >.o Still, i was a fan of the Mummy movies. We'll just have to wait and see how this one plays out...Patience is sometimes a virtue...unless we're disappointed in the end!!
