Why do I get the feeling this is a question on an essay you have to turn in?

Personally, I don't think things will change that much. Look at most entertainment and you see a pretty simple trend. In 50 years, TVs will be brighter, thinner, and sharper with more channels, but that's what someone 5 years ago could have told you about today. I'm thinking touch screens or voice commands, integrated players and connectivity to other devices built-in, but really, is that any different than today's stuff? It'll just be brighter, thinner, and sharper...

I can't even say that I think it will get more/less graphic or something - media mores have historically waffled back and forth. So on that front, there's no telling.

I think we're too paranoid to go in for any direct neural interfacing, so I wouldn't expect any great technological revolutions along those lines. 'Smelevision' would be plausible, but not something most of us would want.

If we go by historical trends though, one can expect commercial breaks to get longer - though I would hope that there is an upper limit.

Perhaps TV Networks will get diabolical and start staggering their shows (not scheduling them on the half-hour) in order to discourage you from watching less popular shows on other channels.

Perhaps TV will give way to the Internet completely...

Everything will be on the Interweb, and on the Ipod chip you had surgically implanted in your brain. That pretty much sums it up.

Saturday Night Live will still be around, and it will still not be funny.

i realythink that in 50 yrs from now alot of entertainment will be 3D if not virtual. i mean look at how the nintendo wii gets to to be a part of the games, now add that with 50 yrs of new technology and better products, things might be close to what happend in that episode of futurama where they go into a virtual cyberspace to surf the web....or how like in the .//hack game/manga/anime series where you put on virtual goggles and are part of the games and can do almost anything there.

Interesting, I'll have to check that out sometime.

On that note, it will still be vastly better than of MadTV. (Once they stop over-using Bobby Lee, I'll make another attempt at caring)

Oh yeah, and the Hallmark channel will finally stop pretending and change their name to the "All-M*A*S*H channel."
