After spending months of floating at sea on the USS Enterprise, I finally get a chance to drop in and see how everyone's doing. Internet doesn't come easy on a ship kids. Never realized how much I missed this place.

Actually I don't. You'd almost think we were totally oblivious to our connection with Star Treck. Tell you what though: I knew it was only a matter of time before some Star Treck references came out in this place.
No, they haven't retired her yet. Kitty Hawk is the next carrier to retire (America's last non-nuclear carrier, she retires next year), but Enterprise is set to be decommissioned next. That probably won't happen until the next decade though.
Can't tell you about Spock, but our own XO is pretty cool. Every Saturday, he has movie nights for everyone on board. In fact, we were even treated to a free showing of.....Transformers.

Sorry, I know nothing of this sort of thing... do you have any jet fighters on the carrier? If so, what do have there?

You're on an aircraft carrier? Awesome! You seen Starscream around? (F-22 Raptors FTW.)

So are you in the pacific?

No F-22s. The F-22 isn't even a carrier-capable aircraft. But we do operate several squadrons of F/A-18 Hornets and Super Hornets. That's just about all that the Navy has on their flight decks now that the F-14s have been retired. As far as I know the F/A-18 has never been used as the alt mode for a Transformer, but I'd be cool to see one as the Super Hornet someday IMHO.
Actually, we're part of the Atlantic fleet. Afraid I can't tell you exactly where we are (security reasons you understand), but we've spent most of our time in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.

sounds like a rip roarin' good time. but being stationed on a carrier with little to no internet must be something akin to jungle fever.

The one he's on was commissioned in the 60s and is the first nuclear carrier created
The one from WW2 was scrapped before this one was built
Its sad that they are gonna retire her, as a Trekkie the name Enterprise keeps a soft spot in my heart

Hopefully she gets made into a museum ship and doesnt just get scrapped

Well at least you are on a ship with internet capability. I was on a submarine. No internet there. We could send "emails" but nothing more than that.

Ever seen Top Gear? They raced a car with a jet on the flight deck. Didn't quite stop in time though. They loose more Stig's that way.

That sounds awesome, I sure hope my uncle taped it for me!
Oh I think the best Stig moment was the race with the self made car!

And the Stig got arrested. Classic!
The aircraft carrier was a few years back, when they changed Black Stig to White Stig due to some 'unpleasantness', but I don't know the full details. Fear not though,
Youtube to the rescue!
