:BOT: Last night I saw The Thing and thought it was an amazing movie. And then in the opening of The Mist, Tom Jane has The Thing poster on the wall... and it didn't occur to me the connection until the very end. The two movies are very similar.

But yeah, I loved the movie. The ending is ballsy, but it works.

Definitely go check it out.

And yes, I loved the Dark Tower reference right from the get go. :CON:

I'll spoil the last five. The names of everyone involved in the film's production scroll from bottom to top.

I saw The Mist on Thursday. It was one of the best Stephen King adaptations to date. The monsters were cool, and I loved the Dark Tower reference at the beginning, as well. And the ending, well, it shocked the hell out of me. That's all I'm gonna say. A definite must-see for any King fan. ;)^

**SPOILERS**

One plot addition to the movie is how the military is responsible for the mist and the creatures. They opened a portal to another dimension and the creatures came out of it.

Book ending, They drive off and find that the mist has spread and cannot seem to get out of the mist.

Movie ending, 5 of them leave (his 5 year old son is one of them) and as they see the largest monster in the movie their vehicle runs out of gas.. David has a gun with 4 shells, he nods with agreement to kill the others so the monsters do not get them and he will let the monsters kill him.

He kills them all and screams in horror and pain (he just shot his son as well), he exits the vehicle and hears a sound. Instead of seeing a monster he sees military vehicles with soldiers that wield flame throwers.
He then sees a truck pass with survivors and some of them are people from the grocery store.
He drops to his knees realizing he killed everyone and his son and all he needed to do was wait just a couple more minutes and everyone would have been saved.
