Jalopnik has posted the first photos of KITT from NBC's upcoming "Knight Rider" pilot -- it's a 550 HP Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang!

The site says, "Sources with the involved companies tell us this is the real car -- the actual car to be used in the show. But, because 'it wasn't working at the effects studio yesterday,' someone did photoshop the red light." Click the image below for more pics!

Knight Rider" stars Justin Bruening as Mike Tracer, Michael Knight's (David Hasselhoff) son who never knew his dad. Tracer is recruited by his childhood best friend, Sarah Graiman (Deanna Russo), and her eccentric physicist father, Charles (Bruce Davison), to join the Knight Foundation, a group committed to counteracting and preventing the damage done by private, covert military contractors.

To assist their missions, Charles creates the second-generation KITT, an artificially intelligent car. A shady millionaire approaches Charles to commission a KITT car, and when Charles refuses, he hires a military contractor to murder him and steal the car.

Someone needs to merge these: http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewto ... 24505&sid=
(or close mine, I don't care).

Back on topic...I don't mind KITT looking a little less sleek (or like Barricade switched sides, for that matter), although the direction they're taking with this isn't necessarily what I would have done.

Personally, I would have used a Corvette Z06... :-?

>_O....why a Mustang? Seriously.

Anything would've worked better than that. :(

No way. A Corvette hardtop, with the sensor bar in front, all black and shiny paint job, with a spoiler on the back...would scream "This ain't yo' daddy's Knight Rider...but close" from the roof tops.

The Mustang just looks so friggin' ugly as K.I.T.T.

...I wonder if they'll get Daniels to do the original voice again, or some lackluster imitation?

would have made much more sense to use the 4th gen T/A

Or wait until the new camaro was released atleast then it would have similar heritage

oh well

I'm not so much concerned with the car, as who will be driving it?

BRING BACK THE HOFF!

Mustang eh? Didnt see that comming.

That light bar looks a bit forced on. Not natural. I read this car is Knight Industies Three Thousand. As this is the same continuity as the original, this car will forever be known as KITH. Only one car, one voice gets the name KITT.

Um, they mention in the story that the light bar was photoshopped on for the pics because they couldn't get it working for the shoot.

Acronymically speaking, it wouldn't.

I meant the position of the bar, not the light itself (which is photoshopped, but the position is the accurate one).

And I really don't care about Acronymically correctness, this car will be called KITH. At least to me it will be. KIFF, KITH and KITT. I aint calling this guy New KITT either. [-(

Damn it, damn it, damn it. I swear, these people would make Herbie the Love Bug a freakin' pink Vespa. I remember reading that the Knight 3000 has the ability to 'shapeshift' or camouflage or something like that, so I hope that this is just one of the forms he takes in an episode.

However, I AM digging that story about a son of Michael Knight who never knew his dad. That is entirely plausible, as the series has Knight Hoffing around with a different chick in every ep.

It's a shame the fact it's a far superior car makes people mad.
I'd share the sentiment, if this was intended as the original KITT.
But it isn't.
So, get used to it, besides, maybe the old KITT is gonna make a cameo later, if it made it to show status.
(BTW, he made an ever so small cameo in this version)

And why shouldn't it upset fans? KITT isn't a muscle car.

Um, a Firebird IS a muscle car. It has been since 1967.
Only shame about it is that it died, and as of now chances of a new one are slim.

Be that as it may, the Trans Am didn't look like a muscle car, at least not in '82. But yeah, they should definitely make a comeback.

Well,think what you want. :P
And you know, when I went to Motor Trend's show, the Camaro guy from GM was talking. I asked "Will there be a new Fire-", he cut me off, said "No, there will not be."
Which is kinda supspicous that I couldn't ven finish my sentence.

Still, although I love the new KITT, I thibk The GT500KR would make a better KARR. Looks too evil for KITT. That's my only real complaint.

Man, he must get that a lot. And for a good reason: people love those cars!

Agreed. I think it looks too beastlike, too feral, for KITT. But KARR would be suited just fine!

I did like Val Kilmer voicing the new Kitt

As of now, we can speculate it might happen.
No official announcements though.
