The Snow Thread

Seeing as the Chicago region just got it's first 6-or-so inches, I thought I'd start a discussion about the white fluff.

Like it? Hate it? One of those freaks that never gets it? Come on down!

What do you use it for? How does it annoy you? Will I ever stop guiding the thread though rhetorical question?

Well...ya! :P

Well, I'm a teacher, so I welcome snow--in large amounts-- because then we can get snow days, which happen to be pratically the best days of the year! Unexpected days off of work... How can you beat that?

Oh and snow's pretty too. :P

But it is annoying to drive in when ice is mixed in, and they don't call off school! :-x

My old teacher, from his own high school experiences, once said taking a hose to the entrance and parking lot drives of a shool really helps forward a snow day.

I'd trade hurricane season for snow any day of the week...

I dont like it beause my Mustang is hard to drive in it. Good thing I have two other cars.

When I did live in Orlando for a year and a half, it snowed up in Atlanta. They called school off for an entire inch of snow. I thought it was funny since we didnt get school called off for six inches of snow. Yeah I know that the south is typically not well prepared to handle snowfall since they hardly get it, but i still thought it was funny.

We got lucky in Maryland, got about 3 inches, and it's rare we get any so early.
No days off, just got out an hour hour early one day and went in two hours late the next.

But I'll take what I get.

I love snow. I don't like driving in it at night, but during the day it can be fun. And no snow = no snowboarding :-(

We got a whole bunch of snow here in Morgantown, but it all melted last night.

I just got about 2 inches here in Colorado, but it's probably just getting started. Last year, we had a blizzard and got 2 and a half feet. I missed 4 days of school, and i really hope it happens again.

^ Wish I lived in Colorado. 2 1/2 feet would be awesome.

It snowed here a few weeks ago. Only about an inch, and it rained all night so none was left by morning :(

Where's my snow goddamnit!

It started snowing like a MoFo December 1st. I love snow. I'd rather be freezing than sweating anyday.

But one thing sucks: Snow days are pointless now that I don't have school anymore!

Some snow finally made it past the mountains to the fontrange yesterday, and over night it accumulated on pavement, so it's pretty outside now.

As for the ice, I haven't seen much yet, which is a relief after living in Missouri, where freezing rain seems to be far more common than snow. And I know from experience my Santa Fe can handle some pretty bad stuff, though we probably won't try to go up into the mountains themselves.

I hear you there, especially now that my school days are far behind me. The boss is like, "Two feet of snow on the ground? That's nice. Be in to work at the usual time."

Plus, since I don't have a car, I have to take the bus and/or walk everywhere, which makes it worse. Nothing like trying to walk over slush and frozen ice, climbing (and sometimes crawling) over a snowbank to cross the road, or standing *in* a snowbank because nobody ever shovels the bus stops. And once a week I get to do this carrying laundry and/or groceries, too.

And it's cold and wet. Snow sucks.

I'm sure we in England will get a nice wet and grey Christmas. I miss living in the Scottish Highlands :(
