If You Could Meet One Person From the Past...

If you could meet one person from the past (recent or distant), who would it be and why?

I think I would like to meet Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), Emperor of the French. He's one of the greatest generals in history. Furthermore, Napoleon nearly conquered the whole Europe during his reign.

My grandfather (Mother's side).

He died about 5 years before I was born, fought in both world wars, helped pioneer the dairy industry around here.

Seemed like an interesting sort of bloke.

Marilyn Monroe. If you don't know why, ask your parents.

Yvonne De Carlo(Lilly Munster from The Munsters)
Carolyn Jones(Morticia Addams from the Addams Family)

I can't decide between the two...

I'd say Walt Disney. I think we'd get along.

I'd go for Sophia Loren in that case.

Are language barriers an issue? And what about changing the past?

Assuming it has to be someone who can speak English, and I'm only meeting them to meet them - FDR, Teddy, or Lincoln. Probably FDR.

I would have to say it's a tie between Dante Alighieri and Saint Augustine of Hippo. They both seem very important to write about their times in history.

Yes, I know I'm a history nerd :P

I hold Rommel in the deepest form of respect, despite the side he served during the war.

Rommel was nothing short of awesome, despite being a Nazi.
