I'm surprised I don't see a thread on this. I know the plot is kind of cliché with "We have a chosen one that will save us all", but I think it is a great show nonetheless. It is true what some people say, the border between anime and american cartoons is almost invisible in this series. I think this is the best show that ever came from Nick, and want to watch the whole series. Sadly, YTV is rather slow in the series, and I started watching close to the end of the second season and missed a lot of the first and second season. I really want to get the box set of the first season, the art work is kickass! Now, discuss :P

I was a bitt sceptic about it at first......

But is a good idea to start a thread on this, and I got to admit that I like that show, also Jake American Dragon.

Never seen the show, it might take a while for it to get over here though, might be something i would watch.

Funny though we don't have the show or toys here, be we get the Video game :-? Odd.

The show is awesome. I can't wait for the next book. I'm really wondering how they're gonna deal with the Iroh character, especially since Mako passed away.

I know, YTV can be a little slow with anything. I rather like the show and a friend of mine lent me the first two season on DVD and they were very entertaining to watch.

I thought Muffin had a thread on this. He's hell bent on getting Avatar a Soundtrack.

They have a new actor who was trained by Mako. I've heard him do some stuff for Iroh, and you can't tell the difference.

Really?

That's good, I was wondering if they were going to kill Iroh off or somthing.

Anyway, Avatar to me is one of the best things Nick has had in a long time. So when's Book 3 coming out?

Yes! Avatar saved Nick IMHO. Ever since the old school all that was replaced with the hackslash crap we have now Nick's gone down hill. Avatar really impressed me with it's story line. Everytime you think somethings going right something happens. It has a very simple story line, but the plot itself is fairly complex.

Yeah, I read on Wiki that they are using one of his 'students' (I'm using this term loosely) that have studied Mako's voice for at least 20 years. I too thought they were going to kill Iroh off when I read Mako died.

Oh, and Muffin, I already signed your petition, but was still rather surprised you didn't make a thread about this yet!

One final thing; when I saw this show I was VERY shocked they mentioned death/killing/etc, and thought to myself, boy this is a GREAT kids show :P

This is by far THE BEST cartoon currently on ANY network as far as I am concerned. The animation is great the stories are just awesome. My two daughters and I can't get enough of it.

Greg Baldwin is the voice actor who will be taking over as Iroh. And if you haven't heard him yet check out this mini cartoon you got to see if you played the Avatar Escape game on Nick.com

He doesn't have a lot of lines but you get a good idea of how he sounds and I think he does a fine job as Iroh. He's no Mako but he honors him in his portrayal of Iroh.

As for Book 3 I haven't heard when it will start but Sci-Fi Wire posted this about how it will end.
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=40634

Looks like it will be great ending to a great story.

Well another popular nick toon is called "Kappa Mikey".

It has many fan sites and is a mix of anime and american cartooning.

WOW! That is AWESOME. Agni Kai Avatar is all levels of ownage. I REALLY want a soundtrack now. Just wondering, Muffin, do you have the Season One box set? If so how much did it cost you? I've been looking in to getting this instead of downloading the eps.

Yup I certainly do. Picked it up for $40 on target.com Don't get it from Best Buy or Circuit City as they charge like $65 for it. I believe Amazon is also selling it for $40 but that's through target.com....So yeah target.com is the cheapest I've seen it.

And it's a wonderful boxset. 6 DVD's. 5 of which are the ones that were released separately. And then the 6th one has a crap load of bonus and extra features. Also comes with a small world map showing the nations and on the back of it is the episode listing. I was honestly surprised at how well made it is as Nick tends to not like making boxsets.

Same here. First season didn't hook me, second season though is what got me interested, probably was due to new characters like Toph and Azula. Easily the best show on Nick in a long time. Funny thing is if my computer didn't break down for a whole month I might have not come across it.

I found the first season kind of boring, but season 2 is awesome, especially an episode where Ang fight Zuko sister on a giant dril
