I hate Vista.

It's as simple as that. With the new computer came Vista. I tried installing XP when the computer came, but got a "fatal error" every time we booted from the CD. So we figured best bet was to stick with Vista for now.

Now, Vista hadn't been so bad, until a couple days ago. Autodesk 3ds Max 9 won't run on the computer. Autodesk is putting out a fix you can buy, which royally pisses me off as I need that program for school purposes. Microsoft is no help on that end.

Now today, I find out that I have 27 days to activate Vista or else Windows will stop working. "No problem" I think, I'll just grab the cd the computer came with and slap in the activation key. Well turns out, the Vista that came with the computer is only a trial version anyway, and I need to buy the full software.

....it gets better.

Now my downloads folder for Bitcomet is being shown as empty, when there are several folders and files in the sucker. I can see the files through the media player, but apparently can't access or see them through the regular folder.

Man I hate Vista, I hate Microsoft, and I hope the people who worked on Vista and spawned this devil software, die of cancer and rot in a special level of hell.

I really hate Vista.

My computer came with XP, and I'm staying with it for as long as I can.

Ditto. After reading a few articles on the thing, I'm staying clear of it for quite awhile.

Until they stop making upgrades for XP, I have every intention of doing so.

Same here, I plan on holding out as long as possible in the futile hope that some way out or improvement will emerge.

ahhh what a suprise I have to go against Fender Bender again.

I was going to wait until about June to go with Vista but thanks to the cyclone last year finally taking it's toll on my computer I had to get a new one.

So I got a new one and I had the choice between XP and Vista. I went with Vista.

Goddamn did it piss me off in the first few weeks. But then I turned off part of Microsoft's new and improved security measures and I have not had a problem since. It's been great.

Did I mention I use Internet Explorer as well? Yeah that's right, Vista AND IE. Bring it on ya XP luvin Firefox fanboys! :P

Seriously, "UAC". Turn it off. It was a ridiculous concept from Microsoft and is guaranteed to make your Vista life hell.

Next up in the dark corners of your local comic shop
Internet Explorer x Firefox and Linux X Windows.
Be sure not to show your mom when you buy them.

Aw, lookit! He's got an Apple "My First Computer!"

Seriously, get a REAL computer. By which I mean, a PC with Windows on it.

FireFox, eh. I switched back to IE after FireFox started screwing up royally. I think it might've gotten some virus'.

And the only reason I use XP and not Vista is because A) I have a craptacular PC, and B) It costs so much money!

I've worked on PC's plenty. There's just something really special about a computer that doesn't slow down after a month, even though you haven't added anything new to it.

And that is strange that you think you got a virus from Firefox and not IE. At my last job, one of the computers was extremely slow on the internet. I'm talking minutes to load up one page on a DSL line. I installed Firefox on it, and problem solved. :-?

Sorry to hear that man.

Is there no way at all that you can just reformat the harddrive? Or buy a new harddrive?

It's all about making your own machine. If you buy a computer, it will have all this business **** on it that you don't care about. Mac users priding themselves on "it just works" do so because the PC is counterintuitive to them, but it doesn't have to be. If you build your own machine, you're in control. Put what you want on that bitch.

Oh and, 3D Studio's weak. Get Maya. :-P

I Beta tested Vista at my work.

I agree with this webcomic for the most part.

Hey, I'm all for building your own machine and such. As I said before I've used PC's plenty. I've animated on them, 3d modeled, and done a lot of graphics work on them. They work, not counterintuitive at all. In fact as far as animation and 3d stuff goes, hell yeah, use a PC. But I'll use Photoshop on a Mac any day. It is so much easier to navigate around, you don't feel locked into the programs. And yes I've used it on both.

I don't bash either platform, I just have preferences depending on what I want to do. For general stuff and Photoshop I use my Mac. If I want to game or do 3d stuff, PC.

End.

Personally, once my XP goes bad, I'm getting some friends together to soup up an AmigaONE with Linux. RedHat and Workbench for me, dammit!

A PC running Windows is for secretarys. Real men use UNIX (and a Mac OS-X runs UNIX, though I use HP-UX).

Except for the licensing fees Microsoft would charge.

I beg you folks not to turn this into a Mac vs. PC flame thread.

I've tried Vista. And I dislike it. Especially the new IE. I'll keep using XP as long as it works.

I've used Mac. I couldn't really DO anything, because I couldn't FIND anything.

Seriously, where was it all? We used it in my Literature Through Films class, and no one could find the button to make the font bigger or smaller in whatever-the-hell word proccessor it used. It took us about an hour to find it!

Having used both Windows and Mac, I much prefer Windows.

I haven't really tried UNIX, though. XP is working well enough that I don't really have to switch to anything else.

Keep in mind it takes a long while to learn any new system. Think back to the first time you used a PC. Hard wasn't it?
