Ultimately? Playboy's lawyers sent me a cease and desist regarding some of the images I used (though I still think the images would fall within the "fair use" clause). Since I hadn't updated it in 6 months and was tired of working on it anyways, I decided it was time to pull the plug. It had a great 6 year run ... but I lost interest in maintaining it a while back. Plus, I'm not sure my girlfriend would completely understand why I needed to do "research" (** cough **) for a section on Seibertron.com called "Before Carly ...".
It also had become an increasingly larger target for people who were new to the site after the site's increased performance thanks to the movie. A lot of folks hadn't seen Seibertron.com grow up from the
http://www.geocities.com/g1archive days of 2000 so they didn't understand where a section like that came from and a lot of people don't know me and my sense of humor and my desire to have Seibertron.com be the ultimate website that I would want to go to. I had my fun with that section while it lasted but it was time for it to go. Seibertron.com isn't the website that it was 4 - 7 years ago. The audience is exponentially larger, we're under the radar of so many people and companies now ... I have to run the site a little differently now that it's in the top 17,000 websites on the 'net.
So, let's have a final toast to one of the more unique sections to have graced Seibertron.com. To "Before Carly ...", you were fun while you lasted. Cheers!
