A good free video editing program?

I've been using Windows Movie Maker a lot recently, and while it does some of the stuff I want, it still leaves much to be desired. Like adding in moving title frames during the video, not just at the beginning and end.

I just want to do a compilation video for a game, showing some of the different elements. But I want to separate those with slides in between telling you what you'll be seeing.

Any help?

So, like a sort of training video set-up. Slide, then video showing?

Do you want the slide to be interactive, kind of like a slide on Powerpoint?

Or just something that pops up for about a minute, then goes into the video?

You got it. Slide, then transition into the video. No interaction. I want to make a video for a guy at work showing off what you can do in Assassins Creed.

Hm, if Windows Movie Maker lets you throw in images then alter how many frames they stay on screen. I'd think that you would only need photoshop to do what you need to.

If not, I unfortunately can't think of any free editors. However, depending on your morality, I can think of a few free video editing software programs.

I'm positive I can throw in images for whatever time frame I want. It's getting them to fade out or do something animated when it goes back to the video that I'm unsure on. I don't know if WMM can do that. And I can't check now because my work comp doesn't have the program on it.

It should be able to. If you split an section of video, you should be able to put a Transition or an Effect in between them. You can also put a title card in between the two clips.
