I make mention of a movie "The Day After" and I get "Oh, I love that movie, I really beleive the ice caps are melting, humans are so naughty! That tornadeo part was OOOOWESUM!"

Py korrie! I've had a hell of a time tracking down this movie and finally managed to get a referance number for it to order through the local book shop. Damn it all, I ring them up to ask them where the hell is it, and I get the woman saying "Oh, we have plenty of copies of that on the shelf, you don't need to order it".

The hell you do, woman, the hell you do.

"I have a ref number, it's not the movie you're thinking of, it's about a nuclear war".

"Oh".

Ten minutes later, "Oh, found it, it's been ordered".

Why the hell did they have to plagerise most of that classic movie's name?

Damn stinky environmentalists and their stinkiness!

But its a cool movie, though - the one with the mushroom clouds!!

I feel better now.

The ice caps are melting. But it will take thousands of years to have the effects the movie you weren't even talking about showed.

As for what you were talking about, Netflix says it's a made for TV movie. My first thought is "nevermind." How wrong am I?

Uh...I wouldn't call a made-for-TV-movie from 1983 a Classic.

And I wouldn't say "The Day After Tomorrow" was plagiarizing, either, because it doesn't count if you extend or shorten the title in any way.

Your scenario is kind of like when Van Helsing came out, and people would confuse it with the anime Hellsing. Or maybe the other way around, like if I went into a Blockbuster, and asked for Hellsing, but instead got Van Helsing.

I haven't slept, so I'll sum this up because if I don't my brain will collapse on me: A similar title isn't plagiarism.

A made-for-TV movie from 1983 that had as big an effect on the population as "The Day After" had is, indeed, a classic. Realize that this aired during the height of the Cold War arms race and depicted what might happen if the nukes actually flew. People were transfixed. There was a national hotline to calm people down. They showed it in schools. Steve Guttenberg was in it! Seriously, if you don't remember this movie, you probably weren't alive to see it.
