For all you Trekies out there that have seen the teaser trailer for the new Star Trek Film what do you think so far? I dont know how I feel yet about other people playing the role of Kirk, Spock and the others. Did you also notice that the Enterprise seemed to be being constucted on earth. I thought that Star ships were constructed in space. They even were in the time that Enterprise took place, so maybe they are not taking Enterprise into account, kind of like the new Terminator series ignores the third movie.

Actually the starships use a combination of construciton methods. In Next Gen they actually show the bulk of the construction was done planetside and then the pieces were assembled in space. There's also a novel that takes place after the first series during the reconstruction of the Enterprise for the first film and the saucer was actually detached and taken planetside for its refit.

So there is canon and non-canon references for this out there. BUT, as far as a teaser trailer goes... meh. There was a fan trailer released weeks before that got me more excited for the film than this did.

UNLESS, at the movie's gripping climax, the Enterprise transforms! :o

It could happen.

There's no reason to believe that the Enterprise was being built on earth.

There's a ship building yard on Mars and that could have been Mars we saw.
