So, I figured it's about time we get htis al;l under one topic.
So, here you can do anything car related. Show us your car, post pics at shows, discuss concepts, ask for help, offer tips, anything.
I want to bring the car people together, so lets go.
BTW, I'll keep my bias to zero, to keep it clean here.
And if you're just getting into it, I'll reccomend some Quality Literature.
Hot Rod Magazine:
A magazine true to it's name, if focuses on muscle cars, hot rods, and everything of that type. This magazine has been around for a while, and as interactive as you can get. You can send in barn finds, stories, pics of your ride, and hidden treasures. Hot rod also offers the technical side, with tutorials from how to weld to how to properly paint your car. It also reccomends parts and gives breif, reader friendly reviews.
Motor Trend:
A more professionalized magazine with articles based mostly on new cars, with nods to clasics here and there. The reviews of aesthetics and performance are very smooth, and this magazine is very true to performance. Although, it features no tutorials, or any sort of in-depth material as for engines or such. Still a great magazine for info and the facts about any car you'd imagine.

This is a great idea! I'll start with something Transformer related. Well, we all know the scene from the movie where Mikaela is looking under Bumblebee's hood and she says: "Whoa, you've got a high-rise double-pump carburetor!" Well I can tell you that there is no carburetor in sight here:

What it is—I have no idea. Anyway I read the Nov. 06 issue of Hot Rod featuring BB, and the actual '76 camaro that was used for the film had a 350hp crate engine with fuel injection. But the engine shown is something else built for very high performance.

Yeah, I need to back order that issue. Oddly, I just recenly subscribed, because it never occured until last year how much I cared.
As for the engine, I guess writers don't know a carb from a curb.
In other news, I recently went on a bit of a road trip, and I saw a Ford dealer on the side of the road. Routine, right?
Well guess what, they had a brand new Bullit Mustang sitting out front, and inside, 2 GT500s and a Shelby GT. Seriously, how did they do that? Half the dealers here don't have a single GT350. I'll be going back after I win the lottery.

I had no idea they were revamping the Bullit Mustang, that's cool! Now we can all be Steve McQueen (if we can afford it)! I also don't know how that dealership could be so loaded, probably more for show than actual sales perhaps, I don't know much about selling cars.
On a related note, Year One is releasing a "Burt Reynolds Approved" Bandit edition of the Trans Am. I'm not sure of all the specks on it, and whether or not it comes built or as a kit. But if you want an old muscle car but can't find one to restore, you can basically buy a brand new one from Year One! I belive they have Mustang parts and kits available. So maybe you don't have to win the lottery!

Those are individual throttle bodies.

Yeah, here's a new Bullit pic.

And I beleive the Bullit was..as is, 28 grand.
As for the TA, I saw that a while ago. I swear, I'd love one, but I'm no fan of movie replica cars. It just isn't "yours", feel me?
But It is a nice car, and I beleive it comes mostly assembled or fully..not 100% on that. Year One is a good source for parts and all too. I'll probably buy some parts from there sometime.
In semi-related news....
Anyone watched any good movies lately? If not, I highly suggest Cannonball Run. It's a pretty good movie, but don't waste money renting the sequel.
BTW, this look cool? It isn't done yet, but its a Dodge Nitro I'm working on digibashing.

I think the engine is a small block chevy. It appears to have "Imagine Injection" brand fuel injection (similar to a hilborn or kinsler individual runner fuel injection). The front accessory drive appears to be a Billet Specialties True Trac system. The valve covers are GMPP, and the whole thing is custom painted.
It was nice that GM watched their fiberglass fake Camaro with fake brakes so closely, yet didn't care enough that this engine get it's proper mention. (Most dealerships make more on parts and service than on sales, so it would stand to reason that GM makes more on the performance accessories and should want their products and aftermarket parts that work with their products mentioned.)

Does everything have to be Billet? I swear, you could make a whole car on Billet Parts alone.
Inj other news, this chick at my school's parents are selling an '87 Fiero GT. It's only problem is a stain on the seat, and they are desperate to get rid of it.
As of now, they are going low as $1000.
Yes or no?

Most definitely NO! Unless it has like 12 miles on it and has all the recall papers ..it's not worth nearly that much....considering their volatile nature (they were called "rolling bombs" in the 80's due to the fact that most of their engines tended to EXPLODE!)
Should I be so inclined, which I am not, I'd only pay $500-$600 for it TOPS!

Pintos got the same rep, but people still like them. Really..I'm serious. I saw a Pinto wagon in Hot Rod with only 800 bucks of mods....all of which were a blower and turbo, plus some new body paint. Pulled 10's. A Fiero can't be that bad either considering.
Where you see a bomb I see a masterpeice.
As of now, the only thing stopping me is that magical thing called parents. But my Dad will most likely check it out.

Um, you have no clue what you are talking about? Can you explain to me how a blower and a turbo work together? And for 800 bucks, there is no way you are buying a turbo that will flow enough air to put a car in to the 10s. Plus with 0 dollars remaining where do you get the money to make a custome exhaust manifold, an intercooler, and intercooler pipe, an intake, a downpipe, bigger injectors, low compression pistons, fuel injection, suspension, wheels, and tires to make that happen? And a blower? Last time I looked trying to twincharge something (supercharger + turbo = twincharge) was around 20 grand.

Hey. I'm just re stating what Hot Rod says. Okay, so it isn't the most reliable source.....
But I'm not gonna over analyze every technical aspect I can if it I'm just makiing an example. Then again there were two Pintos featured so I might be combining them....whatever. Point is, any car can be turned around.
Well....depending.
I'm sure you're right, in fact you are, but don't shoot the messenger. Remember, I have lots to learn, so could you at least not get that hyped on it?

The vehicle maybe, but not the motor.

No way Hot Rod said that. The reason I know this is I had this motor in a car and know exactly what needs to be done to make power in it. It is a great motor but don't kid yourself. Nothing is cheap when coming to car modifications and you often need to do a lot more then you expect.

Well, just to say, cheap can be defined differently. But I'm sure we can agree 1000 bucks is a bit high for anyone like me.
But the modifications you speak of are performance, because aesthetics are easy. But the point remains. Good looks ain't cheap if you want quality.
And like I said, there were a few Pintos, so I'm probably confusing the words.
For reference, which car did you put the motor in exactly?
I'm interested to know how that worked out for you as well.
BTW, you get Hot Rod where you are right?
