I recently put up my PSP and all the fixins up on eBay to make a couple extra bucks. Set up a BIN of $275 and figured I'd make a hundred or so. I get the always funny "will you ship this to my son in Nigeria" question which happens with every bodies auction anymore. I of course say no to him and think nothing more of it. Next morning and to my surprise someone used the BIN function! So I'm freaking hopping up and down in my chair when I log in and such to send him his invoice.

Huh? Wait...Why is it saying he's unregistered? I check the name of the unregistered winner....It's the same guy who asked if I would ship to his son.... So I'm thinking ok maybe something happened that caused him to close his account....And then the emails came.

Read the quote headings to see who sent what to who.

Thanks for using PayPal®, your money is US $475.00 ,for ebay item #120105707153, reason for payment and the money is paid in by willson Martins. Due to the fact that most sellers don't send the item despite the fact that buyers have paid for the item, so we made the policy that sellers must ship out items within 48 hours of payment and send us the tracking number for verification.

When you are not covered by the Seller's Protection Policy, shipping to a buyer's Confirmed Address helps to reduce your risk of dealing with a fraudulent buyer. Confirmed Addresses must be in the name of the account holder, and those Gift Addresses in someone else's name can never be confirmed. Note: Worldwide addresses can be confirmed at this time.

Not only did they use the wrong username (I go by greenmuffin18 on eBay) but they didn't even use an official PayPal logo....Or proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.

I'm not making this **** up folks. This really did happen yesterday and today. Lucky for me eBay has given me a credit and I've gotten my PSP relisted with some tweaks to avoid this happening again. Be wary people. Friends and family who aren't as sharp on the internet could easily get sucked into this with little difficulty.[/quote]

What is with Nigeria?
I have access to one of my dads email accounts
and read a letter from the Office of the President of Nigeria.
No kidding. It said he had been contacted by scam artists in Nigeria and he should cooperate with the government and no one else. It had a list of about 10 names that could have been used.
Then I found the letter the 'Presidents' office had referred to. It basically stated my father had owed them money and
they could work something out for less than what he owed them.
He was instructed to give them access to his bank and the account so they could resolve the matter. Only the email account was basically for spam and a dummy account in case he or I didn't want to offer up our real email address. After I told him to find it and read it(there are over 100,000 unread emails in this account) he had a real good laugh.

LOL, I get those letters in my email all the time. When you have 10 different people in Nigeria tryng to give you a hundred million for no work, ya kinda notice that its a scam, lol.

Nightwatcher, that is some funny ****. I was dieing laughing. Reminded me of the old Diablo 2 days when people would go out of their way to work scams, lol.

This is hilarious and quite weird at the same time. About 6 months ago I tried selling my PSP on ebay, mainly because there were no good games coming out, and I had the same type of stuff happen to me.

I love how they tried to send out an offical looking PayPal e-mail and still can't spell. I get phony e-mails like that about once a month or so. Some of them are pretty funny.

I get the phony paypal emails all the time. My favorite is the one telling me I was going to be sued for not sending computer to a “buyer” in Europe.
