Michael Bay Co-Producing New Freddy Kruger Movie

I was just curious to see if anyone had any opinions on this.

Read the article HERE

I myself don't mind seeing a re-make of my favorite horror villain though there is the part of me that wonders why that have to mess with such a classic anyways. Halloween certainly didn't need a remake, but that didn't stop Rob Zombie and the studio anyways.

Then again, I would rather see him do this remake than the Birds. :P Hitchcock does not need to be redone.

Hmmm...I like Bay but his productions haven't really caught my interest. Only saw the two TCM flicks. Didn't bother with The Hitcher or Amityville Horror. Near Dark and The birds remake don't sound like they will either but time will tell, could be good you never know...

I like the idea of focusing on Freddy's backstory. I juts hope if they make it like RZ's Halloween and have it be a preuqel and a remake we don't go fast pace don the remake part.

I wonder...In this day and age could they're resdesign( if they do intend on givng Freddy a new look) be closer to Craven's original vision of Kruger? The one that was too complicated to do with make up?

Like I said in another Michael Bay bashing thread:
I wrote:Maybe he'll cast movie Megatron as Freddy Kruger.

No make up required. All he needs is the hat and sweater.

I like quoting myself.

One rule, and one rule only: Robert Englund needs to still be Freddy.

Unfortunately, he won't be playing Freddy.

Well...I'm not happy about this. But rather than some studio bigwig, instead it was the actor who turned down the part, and that softens the blow somewhat.

one word:

EEW!

As if the first set of Nightmare on Elm Street movies were not atrocious enough, they have to make re-makes.....

...which will, no doubt, prove to be MORE atrocious!

Is there a single ORIGINAL brain left in Hollywood??? Someone that can make up their own ideas, rather than dredging up crap from the past and throwing buttzillions of dollars of CGI at it???

Freddy rules what are you talking about?!

He's not as cool as Jason or Pinhead, but he's still awesome!

Freddy's got something neither of them don't have: A delightfully dark sense of humor. I mean, who else could toss Jason around the Dream World, complete with pinball machine noises, then toss him at the ground, with only the words "Tilt!" I can name a few, and they're mostly played by Jim Carrey!

Besides his sense of humor though, Freddy isn't really all that much of a bad ass.

Everything about Jason and Pinhead just screams bad ass.

Plus, Jason was the one walking out of Crystal Lake with Freddy's head in his hand.

Even if Freddy winked, he still had no body...

Oh god, I'm about to burst into a song from Young Frankenstein!

I've got both Amityville Horror and Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes, both done by Michael Bay and I thoroughly enjoyed them. If they new Nightmare movie focuses on Krueger's back story I personally don't see it as a re-make because we didn't get much of it to begin with except as a synopsis setting the stage. I'm looking forward to seeing this and the Friday 13 remake as well.

What I want to know is the Friday The 13th remake going to be Pamela or Jason?

Well, the general public probably remembers Jason better. So it could go in either direction.

I know it'd be a re-make, but what if they did a Friday the 13th prequel? Could you imagine? It's a movie about a deformed retarded kid getting bullied...then murdered...and they get away with it! Well...for a year at least. It'd be the most offensive film of the year!

He's getting old. Hell with all the makeup they use to make him Freddy, I'm pretty sure they can find any number of people to do the part right.
