Does anybody believe in Tarot? Because on Sunday I use my tarot cards and I asked a question if the Patriot was going to win the superbowl and it's card meant no. At first I thought the Patriot will win? But on superbowl night I watch the game and they lost.

No. That stuff is pretty much joke.
But actually, stuff like that is used very seriously, and in some parts of the world, actual dark magic exists.

There was a fifty-fifty chance (ignoring odds and such).

I believe. I've used it. It works.
I've read tarot for people I've never met before
and got them on the verge of tears because
I told them things there is no way I could have known.
Those that don't believe, oh well, it's not for you.
Now ouija, that's a load of crock.

Tarot has some merit.....SOME

Any reader will tell you not to ask the same or similar questions of the cards in the span of 24-36 hrs....for obvious reasons(which you discovered). I personally prefer to read runes over tarot myself...MUCH more descriptive and MUCH more accurate!

It all depends on the person doing the reading really.

Tarot, Runes, Medicine Cards, Throwing the Bones, all that stuff depends on the person using it, and the person receiving the reading, because everyone will interpret it differently.

It's basically, if you believe you'll have a great day, deep down believe it, you will have a great day.

As for Ouji, yeah, getting messages through it, thats a load of crap. However, the Ouji board is like the Bat-signal, you use it, it shines a big ass light and draws stuff to it.

its totally true.
but the key is asking the question clearly and not hiding from the implications of the answer because it scares you.sometimes the cards like Death are a good thing. You have to be honest with yourself and clear. You cant hide from teh truth in tarot.

A good desciptription is this
An ancient greek tale of a mighty leader who asks an oracle will he win.the oracle says , Today a mighty army will fall.he thinks this means his side will win.so he goes to war. But he loses. His mighty army lost.
He interpreted too much to his wishes and not to the truth of what the oracle was saying.

Also all magic is good. Its the uses its put by evil people that is bad.The people are bad not the magic. All Magic is pure.

I'll start believing in tarot cards and runes and all that crap when I personally find the body of Jimmy Hoffa...Aka. Never.

A bunch of cards and some generic crystals or bones can't tell me the future. They're inanimate objects. They can predict things about as good as an empty bottle of water or a pack of gum. Same goes for the person holding and reading them.

Well, they aren't supposed to tell you the future. They're like fortune cookies, they'll give you a hint at whats a possibility.

Like I said, if you believe you're gonna have a good day, you're probably gonna have a good day.

However, if a person is good with tarot, or runes or whatever, they can pull cards that are dead accurate, no as to what is going to happen, but what has already happened. But then again, it depends on the person receiving the reading interpreting the cards meaning.

Just because they're inanimate objects, doesn't mean much. But talking about it can't make one a believer, this is one of those things where you gotta see or experience it to believe it.

Dont be so offensive.

How do you think you divine the future?A video screen?

Runes are good. they give straightforward advice.
As are Celtic Tree cards. they give detailed advice.
Theres lots of divination systems.
Im looking to get a I Chi set maybe.

I'm with Muffin here-- Tarot cards are essentially a tool in which a good reader-- not so much a reader of cards as a reader of men-- tells the person what they would most be willing to believe or most fitting to their person. Anyone smart enough to know themselves well enough and have a descent grasp of causality has no need for such things, ie, someone else telling them what they are.

All divination ways have power.

Even if a person is stupid enough to ignore what they say they know in their heart its true. And they certainly know it when something said happens to them.People who ignore them deserve all they get.they are usually stupid enough not listen to anything anyway.
i hate pchcological bullshit. People that cling to that are deeply deeply sick inside.

So because we don't believe in a magician with cards, you think we're sick? Man what the Hell?

Ok, yeah, know what I hate? Is people who condemn others because of their beliefs.

You don't tell a person they're sick or going to hell, or messed up in any way, just because they don't believe in what you believe.

No, not all divination techniques have power. They have a potential. But it's not guaranteed. If you could pick up a pack of cards and get power. We'd all be friggin' superheroes.

You can't say that people "know in their heart whats true" thats because what everyone else knows is true, is different. If it was the same for everyone, we'd all like the same things, we'd have the same religion, same grades, everything.

I have read Tarot for fun, relaxation adn profit for over 8 years-and I can say that I have never ever ever gotten one wrong BUT I do firmly believe that no one can read the future. If u can read the future then it is set in stone, and it if it is unchangeable then i really really dont wanna know about a future i can change. On the other hand if it is changeable then it ISNT readable.

Personnally I use Tarot as a group mediative tool, to see what is in people heads. Which is, IMO, far more useful.

I loved the Philosopher's Forum, personally, it had some of the greatest discussions and threads on the site.

Then it went from a place of discussion and learning, to bashing and defending ones religion. Which isn't right.

So yeah, I hated what it turned into before it's closure.

Back on topic

The only way I'd learn Tarot, would be to earn some cash. The Tarot readers can make a dang good amount if you're good enough.

Divination in general is bull. Guessing the future is no more difficult than thinking about all possibilities.

Time is not a straight line. So a bunch of cards cannot tell you what will happen to you in the future.

It's like being told 'In the not-so distant future you will get a haircut', or 'You will die a horrible death'. All death is horrible for gods sake.

Anyone ever seen Penn and Teller's Bullsh*t? They did an episode that busted Tarot cards. They had the same guy dress up as a different character (overworked businessman, guy that looked jobless, family man, I think) and the Tarot readers gave him advice/future readings based on his appearance alone.
