Well, he had a good last run last year. He broke Dan Marino's records, and he definitely had a shot at the Super Bowl, but arguably blew it himself. He already won a Super Bowl in his career, so there's really no more reason big enough to excuse his almost 40-year-old-body to go again. He's never had a major injury, so why have one now. In five years, he'll have his last bit of NFL glory when he gets inducted into the Hall of Fame, but I'm sure every football fan will remember him for decades.

At least he's ending on a good note. Made it to the NFC Championship game, a helluva winning season, and a good number of records under his belt. He had a good run. There aren't a whole lot of NFL players like him around. Good luck to him

Yeah but his last throw was an interception.

On MSNBC just now the anchorwoman was going through the headlines.
"It's the end of an era in the NFL. Future Hall of Famer Brett....Fave retires today."
Fave. Fave. She doesn't know squat about football. Stick to politics MSNBC. Or get a male anchor instead of trying to attract male viewers.

It definately is the end of an era in football for NFL quarterbacks. I'm 32 and i believe it's the last of my generations greats. Does'nt matter if he threw an int. for his last att. nobody in 10 or 20yrs is gonna say hey remember Brett Farve the quarterback for Greenbay who threw an int. for his last att.!

I, sadly, see the same thing! *bows head and removes Packers' cap in reverence for the old Packers-Rule days*

Brett Favre actually went to college at Southern Miss here in Hattiesburg, MS, and has a house just outside of town. I've cooked his food in restaurants a few times, and my girlfriend has been his waitress on several occasions. Sadly, she says he can be a bit of an asshole and doesn't tip worth a damn.

Sad to say, but that is typical for sports celebrities not to be very generous with servers and the like. I have met my fair share of them in my time, and very few are good tippers....They do not like to part with their money like that, yet they have no qualms about blowing $8794587934758345 on a new entertainment system just to play Wii.....

I'm not much of a Favre fan, but one things for sure, the Packers will never be the same. Then again, I bet alot of people said that when Bart Starr retired as well.

Aaron Rodgers played pretty well after Favre got hurt in Dallas. He actually put up better numbers than Favre in that game.

I wanted to see him in the SuperBowl one last time. He almost did. It is an end of an era for the Packers.

I loved Favre. In my opinion he is one of the best QB's ever. I would only rank Montana and Unitas above him. he was amazing to watch. He still has game in him but this is definitly the right decision. The Giants fan that I am is also happy that his last NFL pass was intercepted by a NY Giant.
