What do you do when you put $20 in a slot machine and it gives you $177? Cash out, that's what.

My girlfriend and I drove down to the Gulf Coast and spent a night at one of the hotel/casinos (Isle of Capri to be exact). Had a great time walking around the mall, seeing the beach, though its not quite warm enough for hanging out on the beach yet, and playing around in the casino.

Now, I'm not condoning gambling habitually or anything like that. We go very rarely (roughly twice a year), and always plan ahead how much money we are willing to lose in the casino (usually $20 each). The way I see it, I'm essentially paying $20 for entertainment and drinks, since drinks are free as long as you're gambling. Usually, I play my $20 for a while, win a little, lose a little, cash out when I get down to 10, 5, or play til I hit 0. But this time, I got lucky and won $177.25. Now, of course, I bought us a nice dinner while we were there, plus I spent about $50 at the mall (30 of which was Transformers apparel). But all in all, a two-day trip was essentially free, and perhaps even profitable by $10-15. :)

I spent a night at a casino last month and it was pretty cool. I blew $20 on the slots myself. The coolest thing though was to see two guys hit the big jackpots. I believe one guy won $16,000 and another won $7,000.

Granted, I would have preferred it to be me, but it was cool nonetheless. Apparently the guys who won do this quite often. The one guy was telling me about how he left the casino about a month ago up $25,000. I guess the key is you need to play the expensive machines. The guy I was talking to was putting in $100.00 bills into a $5.00 slot machine. He spent $600.00 and got $7,000 back. Not as safe as an investment in stocks, but I was envious of his return.

wow, i didnt realise i was in the minority, but i usually blow a good 600-1000 beans when i go to the casino. the worst ive lost is probably like 800 in a couple hands of poker, and the best ive gone home being up about 3 g's, but that was only after having spent like 10 hours in the casino, drinking heavily, and being down for most of that. i hate the casino :(
