The A-Team! Release date: June 12, 2009

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security prison to the Los Angeles underground....and now they are coming to the big screen!

Yes, my friends, we knew it was inevitable: The A-Team is coming to the big screen with a June 12 release date. No cast is booked yet, but it should be interesting to say the least. Let's just hope it's better than Miami Vice...(which the original show EASILY was)...after all...

...don't we love it when a plan comes together?

If they don't cast Mr. T, they deserve to be punched. Those are some real fools to be pitied. Bunch of jibba jabba.

Didn't they already cast Ice Cube, or Ice Tea, the guy from Triple X 2, as Mr. T?

They stressed in this article that no one has been cast. I could see Tyrese Gibson in Mr. T's role...he has the right build...

Ice Cube...no, wrong build...

I just have this sinking feeling we'll see George Clooney as Hannibal...

That was more of a rumour than anything.

But Vietnam is out and the first Gulf War is in apparently.

Tyresse and BA may work, but doubt they could bring what Mr. T brought to B.A Barachus.

Just please let them be able to shoot up badguys this time.

Mr. T was the only real draw to that otherwise lame show. Ice Cube is funny, but he will always be the guy from Friday who used to say "f..k tha police!"

Which is much different than Mr. T.

If not Mr. T, then they should cast Ving Rhames as BA Baracus.

If not Mr. T, then they shouldn't make the movie.
That, or if they don't have the van.

Ving Rhames might not be bad...

Here's how I could see things happening cast-wise:

Hannibal Smith- George Clooney
BA Barracus- Tyrese Gibson
Faceman- (no ideas yet)
H.M. Murdock- Owen Wilson
Decker- Sam Elliott

And you're right...they GOTTA have The Van...

Yeah but knowing Hollywood the van is probably gonna end up being some gas-guzlling H3.

Not an H3...a regular Humvee...

The one thing they need to do is have one of those slow-motion-throwing-the-badguy action shots...and one of those scenes that they build something ridiculous and outrageous out of virtually nothing.

Okay props for choosing Sam Elliott.

But how can you possibly replace Mr. T with Tyrese? Are you on drugs?

Last rumor I heard, they were talking about making Faceman a woman. Wouldn't that be hilarious? Two characters made famous by Dirk Bennedict turned into women.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Poor Dirk...

THey again that just means that no MALE actors can fill his shoes...whether that's good or ill is up for debate...

I hope that movie listing was a joke...Woody Harrelson? Ice Cube? Woddy I can see as Murdock easily...he has that Dwight Schultz hairline...but unless the Cube SERIOUSLY buffs up, not a good thing.

How well will this translate for this era. B.A. and Mad Murdock, I would assume, would be the hardest to cast, due to the fan favs of the 80's. Clooney seems too plastic to me, kind of like Cage in his movies. Now Jim carry might actually bet a good choice for Mad Murdock. I'm still curious enough to see it when it comes out.

I think the biggest question right now is: What kind of movie is this going to be? Will they try and make it "serious" like they did with Miami Vice? Or will they try to make it an action comedy? If they go that route they have to try and keep that delicate balance between ridiculous and the plausible.

I never got into the A-Team, I think by the time I became self aware it lost its general appeal. That doesn't mean I hate it, it means I don't know squat.

ANYWAY. I was just thinking, do people not think it would be slightly.. gimimicky to have a band of celebrities playing the gang? All this talk of George Clooney and Ice T and all this stuff, I just think it'd look a little odd having highly recognised celebrities coming together in one place. I just think it'd be better to have maybe some up-and-comings instead. At least not ALL celebs, otherwise it'd look just a little silly.

Meverix makes a point.
When celebrities enter a movie remake, it gets bad. Heck, most remakes are bad from square 1.
To make my point: (may get off topic)
The disgraceful remake of Gone in 60 Seconds.
First off: the car. I love it, and hate it.
Love that it's a beautiful GT500 "E" but I hate it because it isn't Eleanor. The original was a '70 Mustang standing as a '73 Mach 1. A rollcage was all that kept H.B Halicki (the best director/actor EVER) safe. But in the remake, Nick Cage's rich ass was too pricey to take a chance injuring. So it was all faked. The big jump, horribly CGI'd (although CGI wasn't so great in 2000 compared to now), all because Cage costs too much. Halicki compacted 10 vertabre (majorly bad spelling..) to make the 40 minutes of chase scene great.
Which is part 2. The chase in the remake was not even 20 minutes, possibly less than 15. Bad move.
Not only did it fail to honor H.B Halicki, it disgraced Eleanor's queenly persona.
I say "do better, than bitch."
And I intend to.
I don't care if it's a 10 dollar budget. I'm making a remake that Halicki would be proud to see if he were here to.

And don't get me started on the disgust of the Dukes of Hazzard Movie.

Anyhoo, lets hope the A-Team doesn't turn out that way.

DUkes of Hazzard...eek. I had forgotten about that movie...or at least tried to. Only good scene in that was Jessica Simpson in a bikini...(sigh)

Dude, it's a movie based on an old TV show. That in it self, by definition, is pure gimmicky. I just want to see a fun movie based on a fun show that I loved when I was a kid.
