Fort Wayne, In. - A man was arrested at a bar in Fort Wayne today in connection with verbal assault and property damage. He was identified by the imprint of his face left at the scene.
Lao Po Srilf, a father of three was trying to get to his job Monday morning when he had an altercation with a “lunatic.”
“He just came out of nowhere, I was stopped at the light, and this guy comes up screaming obscenities at me, he must have thought I was somebody else, he was terrifying. He kept screaming, and pounding on the hood of my car, and then he just hit the hood of my car with his face and ran off. It was surreal,” Srilf says.
The incident happened in the early morning hours, Srilf was already on the phone with a dispatcher when the man ran off. The police arrived shortly after. No positive id was made at the scene, the police called in a crime scene unit to take an imprint of the man’s face from the hood of the car.
Police sergeant Bo Howard arrived on the scene to see a bewildered Srilf standing outside his vehicle.
“When he told me what happened I didn’t believe it until I saw the face in his hood. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” Howard said.
The identification of the man came after the police took a photo of the mold and used it on their database. The police arrived at the home of one Henry Lee Hanks later that night; Hanks’ wife told them they could find him at a local bar.
Hanks was taken into custody soon after within the local bar his wife said he could be found. Police placed a latex mask made from the imprint of the hood, the mask fit perfectly on Hanks.
“I’m not surprised Henry did that, he gets carried away with his drinking and likes to head-butt things,” Alice Hanks told reporters.
Hanks is currently being held in the Allen county jail awaiting charges.
