The Ruins
Posted: Mon Mar 31, 2008 11:18 pmIs anybody planning in seeing this? I just finished the book about ten minutes ago. While the book was great, after watching the trailer again I have a bad feeling about the movie.
For one, certain events seem to happen to the wrong characters. Second, it seems to take place on an actual Mayan ruin, instead of a simple hill with a mine shaft as it was in the book.
I remember seeing the trailer about a month ago and thought that it looked interesting, but I would probably wait for the DVD release. Last week I happened to look at the books while I was grocery shopping, and The Ruins caught my eye. I started reading it three days ago and pretty much haven't put it down since.
When it is finally is revealed what is happening about half way through, I literally did nothing but eat, sleep, work, and read. I have read a lot of books in my life, horror and otherwise, and this rivals some of my favorite King and Barker novels.
While I realize that books are almost always better than their film counterparts, I still plan on going to it on Friday.
