Anyone have anything interesting to say about the Go-Bots? Or any battles between them and the Transformers that weren't merely gang beatings?

Intresting, not realy.

Opinionated, well, I have a few and most of the command center, and as far as transforming robots go, they have alot going for them. Alot of basic GoBots are way more intricate than the TF Minicars. Gobots with theire armorments, classes, working radio cars, and so on where very experimental and fun.

I actualy wish they were marketed better. If they where they could easily still be a competive market compaired to Transformers.

Now realy, we love the brand, but don't we also love versatile toys too? Whats wrong with some options, more toys, and a healthy competion to force Has/Tak to push the envelope harder as apose to giving us Animated and repaints, figuring we'll buy it like those Phone people are banking on!?!

Well the go-bots did make a return of sorts in last summer in transformers the movie. Because if you look at the autobots and decepticons in the movie there robot forms looked more look a modern update of the go-bots than transformers.

Look at the faces of both the go-bots and the movie transformers they look very alien and more robotic than your typical transformer did or even does today. Plus going and looking at thousands of go-bot picture on tfu.info and then doing the same thing on here for the movie toys is not my idea of a way to spend a evening.

I've seen the pics and sill need a nudge. I can understand it not wanting to be a way to spend an evening, but still, one would want to back their opinion. Quick inks off TFU don't take that long to paste.

The other problem with trying to find a good comparsion picture is that all of the gobots were made out of diecast metal so the paint hasn't held up as well over the years.

I thought the Go-Bots had a good show. It was interesting, with distinct characters and good animation for the 80s. The toys were solid and cheap, and fun to play with. My only problem with the toys is that they were almost all of one size (slightly bigger than legends (mini) class for Transformers). Still, I got quite a few of them, as they were usually cheap at a hardware store my parents went to. They did lose the marketing wars to TFs, but were good in their own right.

I don't get many opportunities to plug my stuff, so I'm going to shamelessly sieze this one.

My Heavy Metal War Team - Proof that Gobots can be cool.

All of them except Cruellock, who hasn't been replaced for want of a battleship alt, are reformatted Gobots and some of the characters are actually 'doubles'.

Edit:

As far as similarities between the Gobots and the Transformers Movie:

Wiki wrote:In the animated series Challenge of the Gobots, Cy-Kill was the leader of the evil Renegades. He was originally a member of the Guardians and friend of Leader-1. He wanted to be the sole ruler of Gobotron to better protect it (since he felt he was the mightiest guardian), but Leader-1 believed in democracy. This led Cy-Kill to break away from the Guardians and become the leader of the Renegades. He sought to conquer the Gobot homeworld and have all the power for himself.

Wiki wrote:In issue #1 of the Transformers: The Movie Prequel comic, set before the events of the film, Megatron is revealed to have co-ruled Cybertron together with Optimus Prime, serving as Lord High Protector. He soon desired power over the Allspark, and thus life itself. To this end, he gathered an army of like-minded separatists — the Decepticons.
