I was just thinking, what is they made BTTF today. It's one of my favorite movies. How do you think it would be different? What time would the kid go back to? What would the time vehical look like? That kind of stuff.

Well Marty would be 17 now so it would be the 80's when his parents met.
As for a car ....possibly a GTO
I could see Shia playing Marty and Doc maybe Jack Black

That Michael Angarano dude from that new Jet Li Jackie Chan flick The Forbidden Kingdom would make a good Marty McFly. Shia, as much as I like him, would be totally typecast, seriously the dude needs to do another role like Tru Confessions again, in terms of drama.
Oh I hope Hollywood doesn't consider a remake, in this daya nd age Back to the Future, if given a PG rating, would be incredibly watered down it wouldn't be as good.

BTTF is one of those movies that doesn't require an update. The message (you can always change your future and better yourself) still rings true, even today.
This is one time that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" actually fits.

It would be 1978 that he'd go back to.
Which means that Family Guy parody "Black to the Future" would actually fit.
(If you don't know it, it's spoofing those blaxploitation movies of the 70's.)

I don't think they need to update it at all. It was cool enough.
But if they did, it would star Jack Black and Mos Def, and be 20 minutes long.

Don't say that, I hate Jack Black. I'm with the other people who say they shouldn't mess with Back to the Future. Just because script writers have run out of ideas for movies now (and it was bound to happen sometime), there's no need to remake any and all movies, especially movies as good as the Back to the Future series. I just hope we never get Back to the Future IV.

Doc: Dear god Marty what did you do to cause this!?

Meh. Even though I've pretty much accepted Hollywood's idea bankruptcy, Back To The Future today doesn't seem to me to be that good an idea for the MAIN reason of BTTF in its time essentially being a light teen comedy. Well, today's teen comedies are more in the vein of "Porky's" than anything else, so if they ever did remake BTTF today, what would we get?
* It'd surely come from Two Of The Six Writers Of "Scary Movie".
* The time machine might still be a car, but they'd go through some billion-dollar contract with GM Bay-style to pick a car chosen for its sheer sleekness and cool looks rather than something that was chosen out of function and eccentricity, like the DeLorean was.
* Instead of going back to 1955, they'd update it with a not-so-sly wink to the original by having Marty, as a present-day teenager, go back to 1985 to when his parents were teenagers; George would probably be trying to get a job as a comic-book writer, and Lorraine would not only get the hots for Marty, but we'd have at least one scene where she strips to get it on with him.
* There would at least be ONE indignified cameo by either Christopher Lloyd or Tom Wilson, more of that not-so-sly winking to the original.
* The whole movie would be loaded with references to the '80s for absolutely NO REASON that has anything to do with the plot or the characters.
In short, a new BTTF made by TODAY's comedy filmmakers would be an unintelligent mess made solely to shave off further teenage brain-cells and elicit guffaws non-stop.

They're remaking Short Circuit, a movie where the robot hero was an actual, physical, non-CGI robot, and the only CGI in the movie was his laser.
Nothing is Sacred!

Their remaking Bill & Teds excellent adventure also.
They have no shame.

What? Is that true? Nothing could beat Keanu Reeves at Ted.

Thanks, it sounds quite interesting, since it's the original writers that write it.

I heard it on G4's "Attack of the show" the feed segment on friday and their reports are normally on spot.

Yeah I looked it up. I'm not sure how promising it is. Its going to be more up-to-date. Oh and their band isn't Wyld Stallyns anymore, its Atomic Gorrilla. I hate them already. They at least better have Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves make some sort of cameo in it.

I doubt that they will......and I'm pretty sure I wont bother with this film.I cant see why they would want to remake a film that was great the way it was done the first time.

In "Be Kind, Rewind" Jack Black and Mos Def remake movies themselves after the original VHS tapes at their store get erased. They are all about 20 min long.
