this little yellow triangle icon pops up on the bottom right of my computer and it says "updates are ready". i click it, and then my computer says that the update isnt genuine. this has happened before. my cousin once came over, and when i came home one day, my computer was fixed. does anyone have an idea of what he did?

He probably switched your genuine windows CD Key with his cracked version so he could use your real one with his cracked version. And I don't remember how to change the cd key in XP anymore so I can't help you there, basicly you got 3 options:

1. Back up your important files and format the drive and start over.
2. Search the net and find the way to change your cd key from inside windows.
3. Or just keep going on about your way and don't take anymore updates.

Those are pretty much your only options. Hope you fix your problem.

my other option is to buy the genuine thing, although it costs over $100.
