G-Mail: Made of Fail

G-mail, viable message service, or steaming pile of rotting human feces? I'm about to assume the latter.
Me and Tweezy set up a few accounts for the comic we're working on. I have tried to use mine for a couple of registration forms, one for a bug-reporting site related to Garry's Mod, the other for Second Life. I never received ANYTHING in the way of confirmation e-mails, so I took that to mean I could only receive messages from other G-mail accounts.
Fine then, at least I could use it to send messages between me and Tweezy. Right? WRONG! In the past six hours, I've tried to contact Tweezy over G-mail, and I only ever received messages that they COULDN'T be sent.
Is this just me, or this is system so full of bugs it's the digital version of the third and fourth Plagues?
