this is unbelievable. this afternoon after my mom got off work she had a nap and i guess her glasses fell off her face and my new puppy ATE most of them, lens and all. she picked up what she could find but she's missing a lens and a half and parts of the frames. tomorrow she's going in to get news ones but i've never heard of a dog eating someones glasses before. i find this particularily funny because last night my mom was talking about her glasses allowance from her works health plan, like fate was making fun of her or something. our other little dog can eat almost anything, she's eaten entire roast bones before as well as massive amounts of dog, cat and farm animal poo outside and i thought she was living garbage disposal as we nicknamed her but she's definatly lost that name now.

I work in an opticians making glasses for people, and I do hear this fairly often. Some dogs just go crazy for specs.
Plastic frams fair the worst because they can sink their teeth into them.

A few weeks ago a lady brought in her specs that were only a month or so old with deep teeth marks down both of the plastic arms and across both the lenses. Apparently this pair, with her expensive varifocal lenses had been put down on the floor next to an old cheap pair of ready-readers (off the shelf reading specs you can pic up for a couple of pounds). While she'd dozed off the dog had ruined her new expensive pair and not touched the ready-readers.
She wasn't best pleased I can tell you.

As for your dog, I'd advise taking her to the vet if you think she's swallowed parts of the frame and lenses to check her out, doubly so if they were glass lenses, rather then resin.

My dog (now deceased) was a pound puppy as such, anyway, she had a habit of eating bugs.

One day she munched down a heap of roaches - we'd been moving fire wood.

While my mum was out, I let Sally in the house. As I went to get out of my school uniform I heard my dog puking (she'd been sick recently), I went back into kitchen, and there was Sally, standing on the bench puking roaches all over my snack!

These kind of roaches:

Our dog Freyja chewed up my Vife's glasses. She was heading out of town in a week, so we had to special order a new pair. They came in the morning before she left and it was cutting it close.

Not just dogs have issues with enjoying the taste of eyewear!

My cat got a hold of my $500 pair of prescription glasses THE DAY I GOT THEM and chewed off the plastic ends on the arms, the nose-pieces and put little teeth-scratches on the right lens before I caught him! Thankfully, I called the office where I got them, and the lady on the phone (through bouts of giggling!) was gracious enough to offer to replace them free of charge.

I now keep my glasses either on my face or in the case.

My cat is retarded.
