Stupid Wireless Internet

It's pissing me off :-x . I got a wireless network card for my PC two years, and while it never worked great, it's just decided to stop working entirely. I got it two summers ago for when I come home for the summers, and it worked fine then, and last summer too. It also worked all last year at school. But I just got home, and my dad switched the modem and we have a new network. Fine, no problem, oh, except now it won't connect!

I use a Linksys WMP54GS card, which has some sort of Linksys software that detects signals and such. I get to the point where it says I'm connected to the access point (router) but not the internet. Since this didn't work, I tried to find the Windows XP utility that finds wireless connections. And while I know I did have it (all computers have it), it's gone now! My computer just up and forgot it was capable of finding wireless networks!

If anyone here has even the slightest idea of how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. More specifically, how I can get wireless connections to show up in my Network Connections.

Thanks

Maybe I should change the topic title to "Stupid Me". I forgot the cardinal rule of fixing any problem with Windows: uninstall the problem hardware/software, restart, and reinstall it :P . Oh well, live and learn.

I've given up on wireless entirely. We drilled a hole in the wall between my dad's office and my bedroom, then ran a wire through there.

I've had a mostly good time with my wireless. It hiccups a few times (quite a few lately), but usually all I need to do is reset the router and/or the modem to regain internet.

My biggest problem was weak signal, due to my PC being completely enclosed. I solved that by getting a new antenna for the computer. Now I have nearly perfect signal to the router, although that damn connected-but-no-internet problem still occurs. Using a Dlink MaxG setup, BTW.

The only problem I've ever had with our wireless here is when someone uses the upstairs phone. There's no filter unit plugged into that phone socket, so it cuts the router off completely.

Thankfully, I can a) buy that little unit for about a fiver, or b) be cheap and just unplug that phone (which I do :P )
