Dr. Who as Destro....freakin' awesome.
Hopefully he gets the mask. A Destro without the mask isn't Destro at all.

So, no metal head for Destro, eh? Well, that was one concept of the character that could have more wrong with it than anything else.

Ah man, this is looking like its gonna be sweet. Seeing it has to live up to expectations, as I'm sure most TF fans are GI JOE fans to boot. I know I am.
Baroness = HOOOOOOTTTTT

That was my first thought too. lol Now I just hope he plays Destro better than Tennant did the villian in that Harry Potter movie.
But I do have my fingers crossed for this movie.

Wow...this looks really boring. What's with all the black spandex? Way to suck all the life and flavour out of GI JOE. The more I see, the less I look forward to this film.

Both toylines were released by Hasbro and ran alongside each other in the 80's only GI JOE continued making 3 in figs and vehicles until the mid 90's when it took a hiatus. Both shows were produced by Sunbow in their early years and shared a lot of the same background music. Both the original series and G1 were loosely based in the same universe and they did a good job of making sure neither show crossed over outside some comics. Cobra Commander was in one episode of season 3 (after Cobra's undepicted downfall) and Flint's daughter Marissa Fairborne was a frequent re-occuring cats member. There was a Quintesson made hologram of Flint used to lure her into a trap and it had the same voice and appearance as Flint only with grey hair.
As for Destro having no mask:
Supposedly he's going to get it by the end following the last fight with Duke. This deals with the rise of Cobra, so they start out with CC, Destro, Baroness, SS, and Zartan and then in a sequel, they could add on more familair characters. Supposedly Zartan's role is short but sets up for a sequel.

"G.I. Joe is now a Brussels-based outfit that stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer."
So....no 'real American hero', huh?
Sounds like a UN-inspired flick...

As I said on another board, Destro without the mask just ain't right.
I'm not pleased with their choice here (the actor's fine, the lack of the mask is the problem.)
I realize that it has to be realistic, given the situation, but it does come from a comic book background. A little outlandishness is supposed to be there, it's part of the sell.
I don't know...I might see it, but if they make it too realistic and stray from the comic bookishness, then it's just going to be another war/action film, that just so happens to take the name G.I. Joe

I'd read elsewhere (I think in Toyfare) that that rumor was squashed. I hope it is.
They are supposed to still be based out of The Pit (though I don't recall them specifically saying in the US).
I'm not too keen on the X-men style costumes, but then I didn't like those in the promo pics for X-men either, but liked them on screen. So I guess I'll reserve final judgment.

hope that is a rumor...as for the x-men costumes--looks like it's a take-off of sigma 6.
destro without the silver head? probably going to show why he has to dawn it....sorta like how we learned who the man was behind darth vader--only in reverse this time.

Looks like SIGMA-6: The Movie. Duke even has the scar on his face.
It's looking cool... Just not as I was initially imagining. (Much like TF, or Speed Racer)

You know how theyll work it... at some point in the film Destro will get injured, hideously scarred by the GIJOE group and at the end of the film (probably at the end of the credits the way directors seem to be goin with action films these days) theyll do a big reveal where Destro covers his now grotesque appearence with a golden mask... drawing everyone in to see the sequel

Hm, I may end up regretting that I am not more familiar with the Sigma 6 universe. I'm currently reading the "America's Elite" comics and I know GIJoe best from those, and the older Marvel comics I've aquired. I hope the movie gives plenty of "fanwank" to many parts of the G.I.Joe multiverse. (Kind of like the splendid job TF: A does.)
Stormshadow is pure win, and the Baroness couldn't get any hotter.
I'm ok with a mask-less Destro, but I don't want him to get his mask later as a result of a facial injury or anything. If the mask is in the movies, I'd be happy if it was just on a wall behind his desk as an heirloom on display. Better that than screw with it's story.

You know...Dr. Doom spent most of a movie without his metal head.
I'm liking this pictures. Baroness especially.

I concur. The Baroness is very hot.
I'm not terribly surprised by the black spandex suits since they are trying to make it more realistic, but I hope that when they are off duty that they get to wear some of their more memorable outfits from the show/comics. It would make a nice throwback, at least.
I am liking Snake Eyes, tho. *swoon* Seeing Ray Park in the roll is going to be awesome.

Baroness, Heavy Duty, Scarlett, and Snake Eyes all look good.
Destro needs a silver metal head helmet and Duke needs a shave.
Don't know who Breaker and Ripcord are.
Hawk and Storm Shadow are too small to see, but Hawk looks a little too much like Flint.
And why is Destro the main villain with Cobra Commander being in the shadows?
But I wonder if there will be a pairing-up of Scarlett with Duke (like in the old cartoon) or Snake-Eyes (like in the comics), or no pairings at all (like in GI Joe: Sigma 6).

Storm Shadow's suit looks ill-fitted, not digging it at all. There's definately a lack of color in all costumes. It's not like i expected neon 90's Gi Joe, but a little more green camo wouldn't hurt. Hell, Hawk is wearing camo pants and he's inside a control room. The rest of the cast seems looks lost in the Aliens ship. And, no lady Jaye or Flint? Heavy Duty? Roadblock or Gung-Ho deserved that part. BTW, Speed Racer looks like a video game.

Lets examine Destro for a moment.
He heads up MARS, which seems to be a front for COBRA.
Now while he'll do arms dealing, more than likely MARS will be a "legit" company.
If it is a "legit" company. Having a CEO who walks around in a metal-mask 24/7 just wouldn't look good for business.
With Cobra running everything from the shadows, sets it up for the perfect sequel with a full-blown Cobra assault. With Destro putting on his metal-mask near the end of the first film.
Now, all we need to make this GI Joe movie even better. Tomax and Xamot, and the twins from Matrix Reloaded would be perfect.
