IDW SAID (bold added for emphasis
(1a) Will IDW continue the War Within series? No. The material is tied up in legal litigation and cannot be produced for the foreseeable future. It's gone and not coming back. Let it go. If you still feel the need to discuss it, please use the "Search" function before starting a new thread about it.

While I could never find details about this "legal litigation" I took them at face value, assuming Pat Lee had done something horrible in addition to what we knew.

Yet here, with the new War Within 2 Pack, we have a reprint of WAR WITHIN issue 2: http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/default.cfm?page=News/Item&newsid=95C048DD-D56F-E112-418D233AC453DE78

Can anyone explain this?

I'll take a stab at it.

While no comic book publisher can reprint that for sale in the retail market there's nothing stopping Hasbro [who also owns some of the rights to the books and designs] from printing them as they did the mini comics and giving them away at no cost.

No profit no leagle issues.

Thats my best guess.

By the way any word when these figures hit stores???

Erm, actually, that doesn't wash in U.S. Courts. If whoever is supposedly involved in the litigation deputes it, then its treated the same as if it were a for profit item.

I did say it was a guess.

But like I said.....Hasbro does retain some rights to the materials in question and I'm sure that they would have placed in some safeguards into what ever contracts they had with Dreamwave that would insure that they could use then in some limited fashion or an other.

And since the toy has not be released yet this all might be for nothing.

It could be that the book wont be included after all.
