I am about to rip a man a new one (Rant)

Several months ago, I lent a friend of mine my dad's laptop (A VERY old IBM) for him to fix. We agreed that if the damage to it was severe enough, that'd he'd rather buy the laptop.

So, days go by, and he says that the damage was VERY severe, and that my niece spilled milk in the keyboard. (My niece is very young) So, we set a price for him to buy it ($50), then waiting.

So, months go by, and still no payment. This time, we agreed that he'd give me a GeForce FX 5200. (We had one, but it didn't work with my computer, so he'd give us a better one) He also said that the price was much more than $50, so I'd trade him MY craptacular 5200 for his much nicer one.

What the hell was I thinking?

I call Tha Tweezrrr one night, with the intent to tell him to call this man, and tell him to bring his GeForce to school on Monday. (The day after Spring Break, and LONG after the original deal)

Either I didn't tell Tweezrrr, or he forgot, we can't seem to agree on which one, but it was probably the former. So, another transaction missed.

In hindsight, it was a bad idea anyway.

So he agreed that rather than give his nice graphics card for my less-than-spectacular one, he'd go on eBay, and get me a nice new one, now being total payment for the laptop.

Hey! Guess what! He didn't, or hasn't so far.

So, after months of frustration, I'm about to call him (Which, oddly enough, I hadn't done before.), and either rip him a new one, demanding the computer back...

...Or I'd come to an agreement.

I don't want the FX 5200 anymore, I'm upping the ante for waiting so long--Interest, if you will. Now I'm calling for either the laptop, or a GeForce Series 6 or better.

I'd better get some online lessons on being a loan shark.

More on this story as it develops.

And feel free to critisize me for not tearing him limb-from-limb sooner. I don't feel dumb enough about it yet.

Yeah, you always got to put pressure on people like that or they'll just 'forget'. Do not be afraid to say "Okay, that's it you've kept me waiting for over a month now. You either pay/trade me now/tomorrow or i'll *insert action here*"

Also, you can get a 7300 for 60 euro these days. Why settle for a mere GF5 or 6?

HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!!

Before we begin the all-you-can-eat flame fest I have a few words of my own to say.

I know this guy personally. let us not forget that other people hound him everyday for similar matters. He also works part time as a computer administrator for watts construction. at the age of 18, and is a Junior in high school.
Even shadowman has to admit that he has a lot on his plate at the moment. He didn't receive just one pupu platter here. all that along with balancing the relationships he has with his friends. I'll ask him about it too shadow. but I thought that this should be made known before people begin flaming over matters which they know little about!

If I haven't gotten you to stop and think about this for a minute then by all means... flame away...

Is there really anything to say? This was a personal matter that got turned public. I'll keep it open for the time being though.

Tweez, not to call you out or anything, but he can damn well take 5-10 minutes out of his day to settle a debt. If he doesn't get either the computer, money, or graphics card to me in reasonable time (Which gets shorter every month)...

I'm sorry, there is no "If" anymore. It's been "If this" and "If that" since God Knows When. He IS getting me those things, or I will bring All Hell strait to him.

Tweez, if you'd like, you've got about 45 minutes to an hour to warn him that I'm out for his blood.

Need I remind you that he has rifles at his house and is far bigger than you?

EDIT: I also want nothing more to do with the transactions between you and Norwood. you want a debt settled. then stop waiting for the other party to do it for you. call the guy up and explain that you would like to settle the debt NOW. And I'll thank you to do it without the violent threats that tend to spew from your face when enraged! And in all seriousness... $50 dollars for a busted and outdated laptop? that's a rape-off if I ever saw one! (Rape-Off is not a typo. I just thought it sounded funnier.)

Just settle this like civilized members of society and you'll be all spiffy in no time!

EDIT: EDIT: (I would also like it noted that I am not trying to flame or take sides. and if it is considered to be either of the latter then I apologize in advance)

It's worth much more than $50. He even fixed it up for me, net worth must've gone up towards $100 or more.

No, I won't get physical, but since the net worth's so high, I COULD charge him with a Felony.

And if it comes to that, I am much more than ready.

EDIT: And just so we've on the same level, I do intend to keep it civilized. But keep in mind that he's been avoiding any sort of transaction for too long. He's got to learn that when you owe people something, you have to pay them back.

I seriously doubt that a fix-up doubles the net worth!

And would you really go so far as to screw someone over for something as folly as a "$50" laptop? put away the pissed face for a moment, and think about it like a normal person! And besides, this is what a court would call a "frivolous" lawsuit and would more than likely disregard it. Why sue him when he could just as easily revert the laptop back to the condition in which you gave it to him and return it? Debt Solved! how's that for spiffy?

After watching hours of celebrity court t.v.,I hope you have something in writing, cause without it you can't really get much. And it doesn't sound like the net worth would warrant
a felony charge. A judge would take a couple looks at you suing
for 50 dollars value and laugh you out of court.
