need help with nintendo mp3 player/SD card

i recently purchased a 4GB sd card and the nintendo mp3 player from play.com for use with my DS.. but seemingly no matter what i do.. all it comes up with upon booting up the player is "SD card error.. Check SD card"... but i cant find a problem with it.. my computer finds it almost as soon as i plug it in.. and its quite happy to let me transfer tracks to it.. but alas!!
ive even tried formatting the bloody thing but thats done nothing..
any help on this would be incredibly appreciated!!

i read on one of the many sites ive been searching around... that it only allows SD cards up to 2GB.. can anyone confirm or deny this? cos i can find squat all about it -.-"

turns out it does only accept up to 2GB SD cards.. any higher causes a read error on boot up.. so ive got a 2GB SD card and the whole things running like clock work.. now just to wait for my R4
