One of television's comedy greats has passed away. Actor Harvey Korman, well known for his role in the ensemble cast of The Carol Burnett Show, died yesterday at the age of 81. He succumbed to complications from an abdominal aortic aneurysm at the UCLA Medical Center, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Korman won four Emmys while on the The Carol Burnett Show, working with such laugh-inducing luminaries as Carol Burnett, Vicki Lawrence, and his longtime comedy partner Tim Conway. The veteran actor also gained notoriety for his performance as Hedley Lamarr in the Mel Brooks classic Blazing Saddles, and reteamed with Lawrence in Mama's Family, often going in drag and donning a dress.

"I don't know whether either one of us was the straight man," Conway told The Times. "The most important thing in comedy when you're working together is for one guy to know when to shut up. And we both knew when to shut up; quiet show, actually."

Korman is survived by his wife, four children, and three grandchildren.

Not me, that's for sure. I'm just glad he had a chance to live a long life. He will be missed...

I heard this yesterday, and had to watch some old eps of The Carol Burnet Show in memoriam. We used to watch that show as kids and place bets as to how long Korman would last without bursting into laughter at something Tim Conway or Carol Burnet did or said!

If you have never seen this show, you just must if you enjoy a hearty laugh-fest! The best is the Gone with the Wind skit....I die laughing every time I see it!

He will indeed be missed!

Tim Conway allways tried to make him laugh

But it wass hilliarious when it happened because poor Harvey had to hide the laughing

The Gone with the wind sketch when Carol Burnett wore the curtains with the curtain holders till in the drapes

I love it

Yep, although I only ever saw Dead And Loving It once, so I don't even remember his role. He was also in two other Brooks movies that I know of, High Anxiety (the spoof of Hitchcock movies) and History Of The World Part I.

Seems to me his TV career was much more extensive than his film career - he made multiple appearances on The Munsters and was also the voice of The Great Gazoo on The Flintstones (he also had roles in the live-action Flintstone movies as well)...

...he also appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special too, but the less said about that, the better...

Still, the guy was great. I remember watching Carol Burnett when I was little and just thinking he was hilarious.

RIP Harv.
