Home Movie Editing Software Recommendations?

I received a home video from a friend of mine, and while the overall video is neat (showing me the sights of the city, etc) there's an awful lot of profanity in the one scene. (Enough to make a sailor ask "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?!")

Is there any software, free or paid, that will allow me to cut out audio, or even a brief segment, but keep the rest of the video?

She burnt it on a DVD-R, and was going to send it on a DVD-RW (which I thought would've been editable, but just chapters, etc.)

Anyone got any tips? I'd really hate to throw out the entire thing just because of one stupid segment. =\

is it writable or was the video made "read only" if it was done read only there might not be much you can do unless some of the computer geeks / wizards here can suggest anything else ?

Read only. Crap.

Well, it's not a total loss. *shrugs*

Cast a Field of the Four Elements, then fire a Magic missile. Be sure the Missile flows along the line between your mana and the computers. Then, cast heal once for every point you have in casting.

...You don't mean wizard in that sense, do you?

I can't think of anything, except to yell or cough really loud at every swear word. But then I've never been one to censor videos that aren't going to end up in the hands of children or old people.

I don't upload any videos to youtube but is it ok to post it there with the profanity ?

If it is ok then let the people there decide how good or bad it is...I bet it will have a good audience there.

PS :P

You see, those alien ******s are in the way of your video conversion. Shoot past them to get to the awesomeness of video conversion.

Or something like that.
